« Last post by Downsizer on July 23, 2026, 04:49:04 PM »I have been driving in ECO from new in Dec 2024, but after reading this thread I’m starting an experiment and will drive without ECO for the next 12 months to see if it makes any difference. Over 11094 miles I have bought 862.5 litres of E10, mainly supermarket, giving 58.5 mpg. Trip B has been running continuously and shows 60.3 mpg. I’m a bit disappointed with the consumption, but a lot of the mileage is long distance on dual carriageways at over 60 mph, where the Mk 3 was more efficient. The Mk 4 is much better at lower speeds.

Thin,more pliable, synthetic may perform better than thick 'tough' synthetic leather where maybe the extra thickness of the pvc layer makes it more susceptible to stress cracking.
I agree this is made worse on the Jazz because of the way the material is stretched under tension behind sharp edged hard plastic side panels.
So I do not fully condemn Honda when the passage of time in real world usage, reveals a weakness that was not picked up during mechanical tests in a laboratory.
Honda's fault lies in their attitude to resolving the issue. They should, without question, rectify it under warranty, or as cars go out of warranty, and fair wear and tear might become a reasonable explanation , Honda should make available, at a reduced price ,or even free , a repair panel solution designed for easy DIY fitting.
Few cars these days use real leather. Its unacceptable to many buyers , not only vegans, or those who will object to the use a particular species of animal for religious reasons.
Also unacceptable is Hondas apparent continued use of the word 'leather' in advertising to describe the material. Maybe the reason is when information is translated from japanese original into various local languages insufficient care is taken to ensure it completely accurate.

Not sure about the cable. I read that it is really picky about the data cable itself. Also I have been using that cable for many years since I had an aftermarket Android system in my former car. The last few weeks it was getting worse.

That meant I couldn't start driving until it had connected in case it failed. If it did fail I had to restart the car, or phone, or both to get it to try again, it was a pain
After about a year I switched to cable and it connected 100% and it had connected before the startup nag screen had finished
I'm puzzled why some have wired connection issues, unless it's a phone compatibility problem. In my case my 100% success was a Samsung S10 then a 23+
