My Jazz is Crystal Black which tends to show all imperfections but honestly using this product only makes it very shiny with absolutely no scratches or swirl marks whatsoever, quite the opposite  ;)

I used Showroom Shine for years with absolutely no damage to paintwork on our cars & caravans but this Meguiar's version is so much better and easier to use than Showroom Shine

Also every time I use it I’m laying down some polish which helps the next time I come to clean it

I don’t intend for my car to get so dirty that I’ll need to use a jet wash before using this product. I will only use it for Sahara rain and general dirt and grime; if there’s caked on mud etc I would definitely jet wash it first. However in the city there’s little chance of mud etc

For once I actually enjoy cleaning my car as the finish is so good for so little effort

It's an endless debate in the detailing world. The same also applies to rinseless washes (slightly different in that you do use water albeit only to apply the product not to rinse off at the end.)

I value your input. It works for you and I have no reason to disbelieve you. My own view is that these products work best on a little and often basis - ie don't let the crud build up.

I am a big fan of rinseless. All that dragging hoses and pressure washes out along with buckets etc etc. I am also old! I haven't done a traditional wash for ages.

That's why I always put my coat on and do it quick and easy while it's raining.
I forgot what I came to forget.

I’ve never tried a rinse less wash but I might try some out

You are correct using waterless wax etc on a little and often basis is the way to use them which is what I’m doing at the moment so the car is never that dirty

I had the Meguiars on the wishlist and they went up to nearly £20. Prime just came down to £15.83 so bought some.

I hope you are as impressed with it as I am

Yesterday the car was quite dusty after some Sahara rain and instead of using the Meguiars I just used a big feather duster and it came off easily and is so shiny again

I know it sounds absolutely crazy and I’ve never dusted my car before but it’s all it needed.  God knows what the neighbours thought  ;D

 ;D ;D

Errr…. no I didn’t. It only took a couple of minutes to do so hopefully not too many people saw me  ;)

It’s all she needed to shine again. I know it sounds pretty sad but I’m really into having a shiny car at the moment  ;D

I’m looking for this to be my last car so I need to look after her. I’m 62 and I’m hoping the Jazz will be great for another 10 years at least

When you use it I’d be very interested in your thoughts 5thcivic

As long as your car isn’t filthy dirty with mud etc it definitely won’t scratch the surface and you can use it safely

The first time I used it the car was quite dirty but as long as you spray on enough product and wipe off while wet there’s absolutely no chance of damaging the paintwork

When you use the product it clearly puts down some polish which makes it easier to use the next time with very little effort

The knack is making sure the surface is wetted enough with the product before you use your ‘wet’ cloth to remove most of the product, then a second dryer cloth to polish the surface

Thanks for that good advice, but both are pretty clean at the moment, and I'm certainly not going to wash them in 30 deg C !!  ;) ;) ;)

I'll get back when I've had a go. Do you think there is any point in using my orbital polisher for the dry run?

As long as you can keep the surface wet you’ll have no issues in hot temperatures

I personally wouldn’t use an orbital polisher on the dry run as it’s just not necessary

Once you start using the product you will understand how it works;  wet the surface by spraying on the product in one section at a time then use your ‘wet’ cloth to remove it and clean the surface followed by a ‘dry’ cloth to polish off the remainder of the product

I spray it on the first half of the roof to start then move to the windows and doors on that side, then the doors and sill on that side. Once I have done one side I start again with the roof on the other side etc etc then I move to the rear and front

I use it on all the glass apart from the windscreen

The knack is keeping the surface wet with the product while you use your wet cloth to remove it. You only need a quick polish up with your dry cloth afterwards

Every time you use the product it gets easier as there is already some polish left behind

Yeah, yeah, I remember going through all of this over the years...  ;)

When using a machine polisher (any type), be careful not to create holograms or, God forbid, burn the paint.

I’ve only used a machine polisher, a heavy duty one, on the gel coat on a few boats

Using this product it’s definitely not necessary to use a machine.  Just by hand is enough to remove the dirt while wet and a quick polish with a dry cloth afterwards

I’ve used a waterless product made by Turtlewax before around 2014, we bought a new white Peugeot 107 when we moved into an apartment complex, as there were no facilities to wash the car conventionaly we gave it a try, we were a bit sceptical at first but it worked perfectly and didn’t scratch the paint surface, on the Jazz I’ve been using Autoglym wax it wet with good results but I do have swirl marks all over the car which had the  Autoglym ceramic paint treatment from new, the swirl marks were visible when I first washed the car so not sure if it was me that caused them or not, but one thing is for sure I will never buy a black car again as it shows every single blemish, I’ve had three white cars with no problems at all so next time it’s back to white for me.  ;D ;D

A polish I can recommend for for black cars is Autoglym Ultra Deep Gloss. It is specifically for dark coloured cars and should reduce, or even remove swirl marks.  I used it when I had a black car and was very pleased with the result.  I still had the polish when I got my next car which was white and I got an equally good finish on that.  It may cost a little more that standard polishes but it is worth it.
