Hi all,
Just joined
because I have a Jazz with transmission whine and need some advice
So we have a 2011 Jazz with a cvt gearbox that we bought a year or so ago on 63,000 miles. It's now just hit 80,000 and has started whining... so that's not good.
It's definitely from the gearbox or the transmission in some way as it only makes the noise in gear. Most noticeable in the lower ranges, not loud enough to be heard over road and wind noise after that. Downshifting using the paddles off the throttle makes the noise louder, it's quite distinct if I drive at around 20, lift off the throttle and then downshift to the lowest 'gear'.
Reading the internet has thrown up loads of gearbox bearing failure stories, although a lot of those seem to be from owners of the earlier models. I've read the thread on this forum where an owner had a gearbox fail because of the cvt cone bearings... hoping it's not that
So questions then- could the noise be something else, such as the clutch? I don't know much about cvt gearboxes at all.
is there a recommended dealer or specialist in London that has previous experience of diagnosing gearbox noises? I'm keen on taking it to a dealer who has specific experience if possible.
Thoughts? Other than this the car has been brilliant and trouble free. It's up to date with servicing although the last few (two at least) have been carried out by independent garages.
Comments welcomed, thanks
