dec 2015 i had to change the battery after owning the car 1 week.

it was the original battery so 2009 - 2015 = 6 years - not bad lifespan for a battery.

i replaced it with a yuasa (oem) from a motor factors, got 3 year warranty & a darn site cheaper than the dealers which only comes with a 2 year guarantee

I replaced my battery after only 2 years as i dont use the car much and the original batterys are not much good! and id find the starting a bit sluggish in the winter after it had been left for a week, so, i replaced it with a bosch with 4 year garantee, and it has slightly higher amp hours and cold cranking amps, all for £44 delivered from www.carparts4less.co.uk and never had any problems  :D

nothing wrong with OEM batteries, they often last over 5 years - what does kill batteries is being in a low state of charge for long periods as the chemistry goes bad and they will neither accept a charge very well or release it readily.

Bosch isn't my favourite battery as I had one on my motorbike that gave up after a very short time,  as did a Varta,  I have had the Yuasa AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt - with no free electrolyte to spill if battery splits in an accident) on bike for nearly 3 years now and still going strong.  I have a Yuasa 'silver' battery in the car,  guaranteed 50,000 starts or 5 years.

Yuasa has more batteries in space than any other maker (satellites and space station) which is a tribute to their manufacturing standards.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

honda has had loads of problems with the oem batteries as theyre known for having a dead cell so they dont have as much starting power as they should. ive never had any problems with bosch batteries and i can leave the car for a week or more and i know it will start. ive also got a bosch on my other car which i use even less and its never failed to start either. 8)

As I mentioned in another thread, the battery on my dad's 2003 Jazz lasted 13 years,  regular use , mainly short journeys.
It finally gave up last month !

Mine only lasted 3 years ! However in that time it did approx 115,000 miles and with stop start technology. I think it died due to the unfinished road surfaces on our development and that knocked a cell loose.

Not used my car over the weekend and battery was dead again when I tried to start it on Monday morning.

Another jump start with the wife's Accord and been working fine again.

Guess I need to start the car everyday including weekend to make sure the battery is ok - until my service is due on 25th!

sounds like you need a new battery! it should last alot longer between starts. i got a bosch one from www.arparts4less.co.uk for £44 delivered with 4 year gaurantee, and slightly higher capacity, now i can leave my jaz for a week or longer and i know it'll start!  8) http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Honda_Jazz_1.4_2013/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770547&1&5f8c27bf9fe90c9736e197f7a563bc040bdb9434&000020

Thanks for the link Stes  8)

Was it just a simple take off old battery and install new? Exactly the same size and everything bar the brand?

you're welcome, and yes simple swap over takes 10 mins, although you'll need to re-enter the radio code  ;D

Like buses ! . . . . . Now we have replaced the battery on the wifes 09 Jazz. It failed to start about a month ago, but started straight away on the jump leads, and today it tried the same trick. A quick visit to Halfords, for a 5 year guarantee Yuasa battery £89 fitted, all sorted.

I was expecting to jump start my car again this morning after not driving it since I came home after work on Friday but it started fine.

The only difference was that this morning was a lot milder than the past couple of Mondays.

Service and MOT is booked in this week so it will be changed then- although I could save myself £15 by getting one from carparts4less website
