Adding keyless entry for 2004 S model
« on: December 26, 2015, 10:55:06 AM »
Hi all,

Now that I have the engine running well... on to my next project.  My drivers side door lock is jammed which apparently is a common problem.  I would rather have a keyless system and just leave the physical lock alone.

Has anyone fitted keyless entry to a base model?  I am assuming as the base Jazz has actuators, I just need to add the transceiver.   I have been searching online for the OEM part and it seems it is discontinued.  I found one on ebay in Canada but it is 50 quid to get it shipped here.  Has anyone tried one of these universal systems?  They are all over ebay and cheap as chips.

Thanks,

M

If we can figure out the parts, and they are still on the car, I'll remove them when I revisit the breakers.
I'll be picking up a replacement sensor in January from a 2007 car, so if the connectors are on your car, it should be a simple upgrade.
I would hope there is a standard wiring loom, but it may be they are model/year specific.

Comparing these two parts diagrams, (2004 S / 2004 SE) the internal wiring loom is the same part number for all trim levels of the 2004 car (1 .. 32125-SAA-E01 .. SUB CORD, EPS) so the required connector should exist; and the keyless unit (13 .. 38385-SAA-G01 .. RECEIVER UNIT, KEYLESS ENTRY) is only omitted on the S version, but is common to many CR-V, FR-V, Jazz & Stream, although not Civic as I had expected.

The manual at http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual.html has comprehensive details on keyless entry. UK & Eire models are KE, and have 'Super Locking' i.e. deadlocks, first press of the remote locks doors, second press deadlocks.
Programming remotes is straightforward, pairing immobilizer transponder chips requires dealer or auto-locksmith.

Picking up a keyless receiver should be easy for me, but there will unlikely be any remotes. It seems fobs, new cases, and combined key/remote are popular on eBay, but at some cost. Are you considering a complete kit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=keyless+entry , it may work out cheaper than obtaining the fobs, but will likely miss out on deadlocking and be more complex to install.

P.S. When pairing an additional remote with a Jaguar some years ago, after about an hour of head scratching we discovered the procedure only worked with the doors closed.

Search this forum for central locking. This link  http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=3144.msg16623#msg16623  has similar problem resolved with a Hawkalarm remote kit which may solve your problem, and a lot cheaper than Honda parts.

Going to pick parts from a dead 2007 or 2004 SE car. Should be couple of pounds for receiver and will plug in to existing connector; only offered as I've got to pick up a new ELD sensor for myself at the same time.

@mack65: What is the fault with the drivers door lock? Is it the key barrel, or the solenoid? Does the lock button on the drivers door armrest work the lock successfully? If you need other parts let me know.

Hi TG.  I would appreciate if you could pick it up for me.  :)  I will PM you to arrange payment. It is the lock barrel that has failed.  The solenoid works fine and I the central locking works from the other two lock barrels.

Got two receivers and a two button key today. On the way home I thought I should have taken the locks as well, but on reflection the steering column one might be difficult.

You could remove the blade from the key and use it like a fob, or get a new blade cut and swap the immobiliser transponder over or have this one programmed in.

Was careful removing the first one, but the second one only took a minute.  If you remove the fuse cover and the two screws that hold the under dash trim, and remove it you can reach where it lives with fingertips just above and to the right of the fusebox against the car body. It was slipped on to a metal tang on the body, the cable came down from above. In the photo I've pulled the cable down from a retaining clip, but I don't know where your loose end may be hiding.

Thanks for the picture.  I have a detailed instruction for installing it that I found on College Hills Honda's site but the picture makes it much more clear.   :)

Hello,
I am a new owner of a Honda Jazz S model (2004) and I am looking forward to buy the module 38385-SAA-G01 but dont know yet what key will be compatible with? I can see that key in the photo, but can you please write it down what model it is? :) Dont want to do any mistakes when i will spend some money for the OEM parts (even they will be used).
One more thing...the attachement of the module to the existing wire is just 'plug and play'? Will not need any modifications to my Jazz, right? :)
Thanks in advance for your answer, apreciate it!
