Shaving, what do you use.
« on: May 24, 2015, 08:12:50 PM »
Just wondering if anyone else on here shaves using an old school DE shaver. I use an old Gillette adjustable, would never go back to disposable razors. I'm tempted to try a straight edge cut-throat razor too.

I use a Merkur 1904, which is a copy of the original Gillette safety razor. Wilkinson sword blades, or Japanese blades if I am feeling brave! They are VERY sharp.

Try some Russian blades interlock. Much cheaper than feather blades. Straight out of the Russian Gillette factory and feel really good.

If you drop me a pm I can send you some as samplers if you cover postage and a few quid.

Can currently get a pack of 100 blades for about £7.70 delivered. Depending on how much shaving comfort you want mine generally last 3 or 4 days. But I like a nice Sharp blade feel, to reduce risk of that jumping effect. So by some quick guessing that's about a year's shaving for under a tenner  :P

Another vote for Merkur here. Spent decades using disposables when I could have had a more satisfying shave at a fraction of the cost. Soften that stubble first is my top tip!

Gillette Mach 3, I tried the Sensor but went back to Mach 3. I only shave every 2-3 days and find that I get a closer shave that way and in turn can leave it 2-3 days before shaving again  :D

I use this , electric shavers have come a long way over the last couple years. I use to swear by wet shaving but these new electric shavers are the business.

^^

Always been a Braun man and that's the shaver I use for normal everyday use but for the weekends I tend to finish off with a Mach 3 for ultra smoothness.

I just ordered some new cutters for it £16, not bad as they last up to 18 months.

Just treated myself to a top of the line 7 series Braun off of that there Amazon. Half price at the moment!

I have to say, a lubricated shave with the Braun is amazing, almost as close as wet shaving and a lot quicker. Plus I can multi task. Try wet shaving whilst doing something else in the bathroom, if you see what I mean! Also, who needs a bathroom. It also comes with a charge/cleaning station which is very effective I have to say.

Being blonde, having thin stubble and working somewhere we have dress down Fridays, I tend to shave just twice a week, on Sundays and Wednesdays, and this is proving a great method for me.

Braun electric.  Series 7 it says.  Comes with all sorts of cleaning gadgets and 3 spare foils.  I only have to shave every other day anyway

Another Mach3, here.......

I shave on alternate days. After my (daily), shower. A blade lasts me for months.  :)
