Newer Car
« on: April 17, 2015, 06:55:52 PM »
I am thinking about getting a post 2012 Jazz, petrol auto.  A number of them are very low mileage.  One as low as 1,000 average per year.  I expect they have been mobility.
Whilst they have correctly main dealer service history I am concerned about possible problems when a car has not had sufficient use.  Is it likely to apply to these cars ?

Any advice on buying a used auto would be appreciated.
Thanks

Many are likely to have perpaid service and be serviced every year whether they need it or not.

Thanks.  As a general principle I believe a car is better being given a fair amount of use and if not then it is bad for engine etc.  A low mileage car, even properly serviced, is given a premium price but may be in a vulnerable state because of engine not being regularly warmed up.
What is Jazz like in this respect ?

There is a long story about servicing a Jazz which had been grossly abused and not serviced,..

It's long - but it shows how tough Jazzes are...Honda don't get good records for reliability for OAPs to trash their record by driving 2,000 miles a year!

The new model Jazz won't be that soon.  This recent news report http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/archive/2015/04/14/12889174.Honda_jobs_are____safe____thanks_to_new_Civic/ states that the Swindon factory will run down the production of the Jazz in June after which Honda would sensibly want to clear the inventory before allowing orders for the new version.
