Thanks for the feedback, well, today is the day, finally made up mind to buy one, looking at 05 or 06, with possible 100k, been deciding between that and the Toyota corolla, but the jazz is much more economical and popular, hope I don't get stung!

Being a used car is a lottery regardless which car you go for you will encounter one issue or another. 9 year old cars likely to have something that's quite not right.

Since getting mine I've had a fresh battery, two brake calipers,  rear pads, strut mount and now drop links, CV joints and front brake caliper issues. Hoping once all this is sorted it will leave me alone for a while!

Good luck.

Well, I decided to take a chance on a high mileage car, I bought a 58 plate 1.4 dSI SE, with 110,000 for £2400, obviously it is not perfect, but it is not bad for the price, it was a private seller who bought it for his 17 year old son to learn in, but said that the insurance was too high, so seems like a genuine sale, let's hope so!

Congratulations, I hope it serves you well.
The engine should be nicely run in, with lots of miles left to come. I would do an oil and filter change so you know it has been done and bung a tube of molyslip in to protect the top end. Probably done some longer journeys so not been too stressed. If it has been looked after, you have a bargain. Good luck.

That's a very good price. I take it it's not the mk2?

Thanks Interlock.
Sorry, but i am not familiar with molyslip, Could you explain what i do with it please as it sounds like a good idea. The service record looks like it had an oil and filter change in March last year 5000 miles ago, and it was MOTed in November last year, so I am planning on getting a major service done at an independent garage.

Unfortunately not, would have liked the newer shape, but for the price, i can't complain for the price.

Molyslip, oil additive. Coats all parts with molybedenum (sp?) which is super slippery, stays active even when the oil has drained back ito the sump so protects on startup, also keeps the top end nice and quiet. Lots of mentions on the forum.
Bung it in at oil change time, costs around £12. Molyslip Engine Protector 325ml and a decent oil will keep your engine sweet.
They also do a gearbox version, protects those thrust bearings. DO NOT use in a cvt box, only manual.

Regards.

Sorry for asking a silly question, but if I have a service done with the oil change, the oil will obviously be topped up to the max, can I add this 325ml on top of this? or should i wait until the oil level drops down a bit?

No that would put level above the maximum

Wait for level to drop to the minimum or put it first at the next oil change

Um, I put it in first then bring the oil level to max, generally in 2 or 3 stages to let the oil settle into the sump and filter.

Yeah ,unlike the rather common oil burning Toyotas.  I have seen a few Pink Mk 1 jazz at lower than usual prices.
It must be the colour.........it would take a bit of explaining I suppose  ;D

Sounds like a fair enough price, as they are more expensive up here.  Seen them at 200k miles........so they ain't no toys.  Brilliant tool is Jazz.
