Quiet tyres?

Several Jazz owners have mentioned changing tyres to quieten down the cabin noise at 70mph.

I just checked mine they are Dunlop 185 r16's on a 2010 EX iShift 1.4.

I am desperate to hear the radio on long journeys - what can people recommend -

michelin energy savers are the best and they last the longest too

My Jazz came with Michelin Energys from new, the front tyres lasted to 25,000 miles, but the local tyre stockist had an offer on Yokohamas, so I went for them, however they only lasted 17,000 miles, so went back to Michelin Energys. Rear tyres lasted to 75,000 miles, and they are still good so should last for 75,000 miles again (already done 50,000 on them). Check around prices vary considerably, I have got them between £55 and £75 each.

Just buy a louder stereo!

Got a set of Michelin Energy Saver+ on a Mk1. Roll nicely and progressive turn in. Had to junk the nearly worn out original Bridgestones on the rear and the Front ones were noisy Chinese ditchfinders that had horrible steering characteristics.

Uniroyals would have been my second choice.

I have a set of 185/55 16 (Continentals & Dunlops), they don't seem to generate a vast amount of noise, I have never thought of the Jazz as being very noisy at all, but then the CVT is programmed to keep the revs a low as possible for any given speed.
I have noticed a slight increase in noise level when I've switched over to my Pirelli winter tyres, which will be very soon now the temperature has dropped noticably

Jazz EX fitted with Dunlops, replaced the fronts with Dunlops again around 35K miles. Road noise on motorway can sometimes be horrendous but its all down to the rough surface texture. Move to a resurfaced smooth area and...quiet.

Bridgestone on my last car were the same.

I turn the music up really loud (with CD's)...this also helps to keep me awake!!

Ditto with ES and Michelin Energy.. To cut down sound, you need to sound proof the front bulkhead and wheel arches... several days work...
