Winter Tyres
« on: November 15, 2013, 01:54:40 PM »
Hi

Hoping to have my 1st Mk2 Jazz manual by christmas.

Then try to get a full set of winter wheels (tyres + rims).

Any advice on which used wheels to fit a Jazz (either with 15/16")?
Alloys or steel?
Spec of wheel rims (pcd, offset etc)?

Or just get tyres?

Cheers all!

See http://www.mytyres.co.uk/Complete_wheels.html. Select by car make/model.

I bought a set from here 3 years ago. Recommended.

Mytyres are a quality company - delivery within a week from Germany - I have used for several vehicles
Go for the complete steel wheel & new tyre option -  you can always sell on in the future.
With regard to used tyres every second hand vehicle bought has used tyres - its all about the condition the misuse or otherwise by the owner. If buying from E bay take care, better to ask you local tyre dealer  to source a set of tyres for you - inspect well before fitting.

I have 175/65 R15 tyres on steel wheels. Wheel dimension is 5.5J x 15, hole spacing is 4 x 100, centre hole is 56mm. Here in Switzerland it's recommended the tyres are not older than 6 years and profile not less than 4 mm.
If buying used the owner should be able to provide these details, the age is written on the tyre wall with a DOT number which shows week and year of production E.g. 3812. I have Semperit speed grip 2 tyres and would recommend not going for the cheapest make as they can have a bad performance.
The original mini one wheels should also fit and make sure the wheels are balanced as well.
Basically don't try to save money at the cost of safety!

Cheers both!

Just that every pennies count!
And i have bought used tyres before -
But only branded ones like bridgestone / continental.

Will see if i have any money left after buying the Jazz.

Still unsure if a 2009 EX at 6-7k
Or 2014 SI at 11k ...

Also rate mytyres! How much would you save buying used tyres?

My experience about the same!
Mostly due to budget and when I suddenly decide to sell.

User three change more times.
But cost of more tyre changes abt the same to new three over the life of it.

But a good option when money is tight at the time!

Though I have never bought winter three before (new or used)!
