Window switch panel
« on: November 09, 2013, 08:33:03 AM »
 Hi all.

Having looked through the issues that some have experienced, I am surprised that this issue hasn't come up more frequently, since these switches were the subject of a recall a couple of years back.

Anyway, just recently the drivers side window switch started to pay up on the wifes 14 SE 54 plate, and thus far we haven't had the chance to call the dealer for a fix. So, like an idiot, I went and lowered the window to about half way, and now the switch will not activate the motor to get it back up.

Have looked briefly at the switch panel, but no screws or visible clips, and am wondering how to get a look at that switch. Any advise would be welcom.

Dan

Okay, it doesn't appear to be the switch.

Taken the panel apart and the switch works fine. Have taken the interior door panel off to take a look, but with the window down there is no way to get the motor or winding cable into any sort of posstion to inspect. Am now thinking the only way to get any sort of clearance is to take the window out entirely.

Anyone else seen this problem?

(Newly discovered the reason I prefer older metal, despite it's unreliabilty at times. Electric windows - Another thing to go wrong.... Help!) :(

I would buy the Haynes manual from Amazon, currently it's at its lowest price I've seen £14 which is a no-brainer decision to buy/not buy. Whilst not fantastic in some aspects (b/w photos instead of colour) and some curious descriptions, it is better than nothing.

I've checked my book (which cost me £18) and there is a procedure to remove the motor and winder assembly, quite detailed.
