which brand spark plugs and replacement
« on: October 19, 2013, 12:11:57 PM »
Hi, just wondering which spark plugs I should get for my jazz 1.4 i-dsi I believe there are 8 of them, How difficult would be to change them?  I am guessing that they causing not a steady idle when engine is hot, I made a scan with OBD 2 scanner and it didn't showed faults, Can spark plugs cause that problem?

I have used NGK spark plugs with no problems.

The front are easy to change, the rear ones are ok just access is a bit tight.

Get a Haynes manual shows you exactly whats involved.

When was the last time you got your spark plugs changed? The best one are denso or NGK. You will need a slim spark plug tool and a slim 10mm socket. The plug nut bottom right is hard corner is hard to get out. Otherwise it's a simple job. I changed my plugs at 2500 miles took me 3 days as I could not get the bottom right nut undone, needed the slim 10mm socket. Make sure you have all the tools.

NGK ones are BKR6E-11, less than £15 for 8 on ebay
also get some anti-seize compound to put on spark plug's thread
also possibly good idea to measure electrode gap, should be 1.1mm afair, although they should be correctly pre-gapped

otherwise common culprit is egr valve&egr plate's passage under intake manifold gasket which needs cleaning
you can read up other topics on here about egr, might have same symptoms as yours
