1st MOT passes.
« on: October 06, 2013, 10:47:42 PM »
On the Telegraph, top ten cars that either do or don't pass their 1st. mot:
As we might expect, the Jazz is second only to the Toyota IQ:

2. Honda Jazz

Pass rate: 90.4 per cent

Average mileage: 19,541

Total tests: 15,441

1. Toyota IQ

Pass rate: 91.8 per cent

Average mileage: 20,235

Total tests: 2,835

Worst of all:

1. Renault Kangoo

Pass rate: 63.54 per cent

Average mileage: 43,144

Total tests: 3,494

Which sounds about right, as I had a Kangoo van for several years as a runaround and it never passed first time, although it was otherwise very reliable and a good little van.

Our locksmith shop have to replace transponders and keys for the Kangoo.  There are 4 different types of transponder socket in this vehicle, depending on the variant.  Only the French can design something like this.  Even the dreadful Dacia car is better in this respect

Mine was an ex-britishgas van and was really very good, apart from the mot passes - or lack therin. It was a 1.5 td and was really very reliable.

I can assure you that it is not just the French car manufacturers that can manage that, as a look through a car key catalogue will show.
