If the others doors open on the key then it sounds like the central locking not releasing that door.

A job for an auto-locksmith or honda.

If she has the 2nd key try that one
You need to identify whats changed since it was being operated by the main key
Car Battery
Door locks
Key battery - possible
Lets know what happens

I tried it today, on the passenger side the key goes in very easily and operates nice and smoothly
One the drivers side it is difficult to get the key in and around 50% of the time it will not turn, a spray of WD40 didnt seem to improve things

there is no remote central locking its all done by the key

When I snapped the key of my Mk2 Fiat Punto in the passenger door (central locking but not remote) I was unable to replace just the one door lock. I could only buy a replacement key or a complete set of new keys and locks at a couple of hundred £'s (x2 door, boot & ignition barrel then reprogramme the ECU). In the end I just had a new key at about £50 and left the door lock with half a key still inside.

My advice if you are handy just swop the locks over passenger to drivers side.
estimate should take half a day - most of the time is removing the door card and making sure the clips dont break off or jam the electical panel for windows.
use this website for details:http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual.htm

Dont use WD40 or freeing spays for locks try ptf spray to free off the mechanism and dry out each time

failing that get an estimate from a friendly mechanic or electrical place then set this cost against a new one, you may end up with 2 keys.

I had the same problem on the drivers door, I couldn`t get the key in hardly and it didn`t turn at all. The other locks were fine.
So I took the barrel out to have a closer look (without proper tools takes time!) and I noticed the first section (out of the 5) of the tumblers were worn (didn`t move up/down when the key inserted and prevented to turn the key) so I took those out and put the lock/barrel back without those front tumblers (still 8 remained in the original place). Now it is working again.
If you want to swap from the passenger side no problem at all.

To overcome this problem buy a keyless entry fob normally no more than £20 quid off ebay.

To code the key fob to your car put the key in the ignition and swith it to the second position, then press teh lock button on the fob, return to start position adn repeat 3 times this will configure the fob to your car then everytime you want to open the door use the fob.  Ooh and I've just saved you £90 quid  :o that Honda charge for "programming you fob" cheques in the post please. ;D
