Brake Pad Wear

I have a 2008 Ex Jazz where no disc pads have been replaced yet.The Honda garage reported that both front and back pads were 70% worn.
 Firstly I always thought that the front pads wore more quickly than the rear pads and secondly at what wthepads start their









My  Honda garage reported recently that both front and rear brake pads were 70% worn .Firstly I always thought that  the front pads always bore the brunt of the pad wear and secondly at what % of brake pad wear do Jazz brake pads start 'screeching'(page 298 in the Handbook)?
  Can anyone out there help?

I don't know at what stage they start screeching - but I would be thinking about booking it in for replacement
fairly soon either way - I prefer to avoid wearing things right to the very last, sometimes you can do damage and end up with a more expensive problem - in this case it will only be the discs I realise.
With Brakes steering and tyres I just don't mess about.
