Just looked at the You Tube clip - thanks again Aitcho.

It mentions "use standard wheel nuts"

I don't appaear to have these either.

Does it mean that the nuts used to hold the alloys on can't be used on a spacecesaver?

BTW I don't mean to sound like a worryer, but I'd like to be prepared if the worst happens & I get a major puncture in the future  :o

If your Jazz is fitted with original Honda alloy wheels then you would use your existing wheel nuts with the Honda space saver.

The space saver is designed to use the Honda 'radius' wheel nuts which are fitted to your alloys.

My Jazz has a space saver tyre, had no problems passing the MOT test.

Was the space saver fitted to the car when the test was conducted?

The following is a brief section taken from another forum on  'Space Savers and the Law':-

Poster A said:   FWIW it'll fail an MOT with a space saver on.

Poster B said: You might be right, but my old Porsche passed with a space saver fitted a couple of years ago...

Poster A said: The very question came up on my MOT refresher course a few months ago, it definetly should be a fail. I'm not naive enough to think that every MOT tester gets it right though.

So if lucks on your side you might get an MOT 'pass' with a car fitted with a space saver, it depends  on how good the MOT tester is.  ;)

Will any jack do?

Try get a flat topped jace (well the one that came with my honda is flat with 2 grooves in it).. not all them are like that as the one that came with my parents volvo doesnt have the flat top bit (no idea why...but its a pain..) best just to try for a honda one :)

I was told by the garage that if a car comes without a spare wheel I wouldn't need tools :'(

That means no jack, wheelbrace, or towing eye.

What the garage said is rubbish!

You will find that the majority of Honda cars now come with no space saver or spare wheel but instead are supplied with tyre sealant and a compressor to inflate the tyre despite this a jack and tools are provided with the car.

They should be located in the tyre well in the boot.

If you have not already done so just ease the 'carpet' away from the rear of the wheel well it should have an oval shaped hole which allows you to insert a few fingers and it sort of unclips from the plastic trim at the rear of the car boot space.

Aitcho you are the font of all knowledge - I salute you!!!

Sure enough there is the jack, tools & towing eye all wrapped up in a canvas bag.

I've stowed away the spacesaver spare in its little hideaway.

I'll do a dummy run later.

 A great big "Thank you".

BTW is the no end to these little hideways on the Jazz, I've just found the little compartment under the rear seat.

No wonder they call the Jazz a Tardis!!

That's great, glad you managed to find them, they are well concealed!  :)

I am still referring to my handbook to learn things about my Jazz.

At least I learnt how to attach a picture  to my posting, was not sure whether it would work.

My recently-acquired 2010 EX (16" alloys) didn't come with a spare wheel and so like many others, I decided that I'd like to have one rather than rely on the can of gunk. There's a lot of information on the subject on this forum, some of which I was a bit sceptical about, so I thought I'd share my experiences, in case it helps.

My overriding principle is that I don't give Honda a penny more than I have to, so I bought, on eBay, a 16" space-saver wheel and tyre from a Mk.5 Astra, which arrived this morning. It appears to be in brand new condition and cost £28.05, including carriage. For those who are interested in such details, the tyre size is 115/70 R 16 92M, and the overall diameter is 22.3", compared with 24" for the car's normal wheels.

I found that it fitted onto my car perfectly, using the normal wheel nuts, and I've just finished giving it a thorough test, both on the front and back of the car. I took it up to about 45 mph and I can report that it functioned perfectly, with no handling, steering, braking, vibration or other issues whatsoever, and no illumination of ABS / VSA warning lights. Perhaps a tiny bit more road noise than usual, but that's to be expected.

It fits beautifully into the well in the boot (after removing the polystyrene insert), and is held down very securely using a bolt I found in my garage and a metal jam jar lid with a hole drilled in the centre. (I had to make a small hole in the carpet for the bolt.) Total outlay: sod all. There is plenty of room in and around the spare for jump-leads, warning triangles, gloves, inspection lamps, umbrellas etc.

I reckon I've saved myself at least £170, and have the additional satisfaction of having given the extortionists at Honda not a penny!

However, Honda do supply those tools with cars without spare wheels (even my hybrid which has a battery where the spare wheel could go still has the tools) so, unless someone removed them they they should be there. Did you consult the Owner's Manual and then look in the boot and find no tools in the place shown in the manual?
