Strange issue with Centre Seat belt socket latch mechanism!
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:03:41 PM »
Some people travelling in the rear of my 2009 Jazz ES have in the past had problems latching the off side seat belt Latch Plate / Buckle into the socket eventually they have managed to get seat belt latched and we have been on our way. Today I tried to put the offside belt into what I though was its socket, but I was actually trying to put it into the Centre seat belt socket, the latch plate / buckle would not latch into the socket. When I checked thoroughly I found that only the Centre seat belt latch plate / buckle would latch into the centre seat belt socket the outer belts would not latch into the centre socket.

I now know why some people had problems with the seat belt in the past. What I do not know is if this is only a problem on my car or if it is normal for the GE Jazz. Has any one else noticed this issue or could someone else please try this out on their GE Jazz. I could not find any reason for this in the user manual.

If the GD has the same issue I guess it is the way Honda designed the Centre Seat Belt latch. It is however quite annoying though. When someone is sitting in the car it is difficult for them to tell which socket they are using and for the driver to check they are using the right socket.

I believe they should have coloured different that centre socket.

I have covered the centre socket with tape for now as the centre belt is very rear it is used, I will probably make a cover for it.

Make it a sock like a mobile phone - in fact a mobile phone sock might fit!
