Service costs
« on: October 08, 2011, 08:52:13 AM »
Although I have bought a servicing pack of 5 services for £500 at the time of purchasing my Hybrid, I am curious as to what the servicing costs will be.

The sales guy said theres a gearbox service £70 as and when required, the car will let me know when. Generally the services were mentioned around the £200 for a basic service, and £300 for a full service, but do these give a true reflection of the invoice price?

The 5 services will take me up to 75k, which will be around 3 years time so I have plenty of time to plan ahead.

Also are there any extras on the services that are already paid for? I assume labour, oil and filters are covered, but probably brake pads aren't. So do brake pads become £200 to grab some money back?? Or are they a more realistic £80??

Cheers

May be worth just checking if the deal is a 5 years or x 000's miles, all current Jazz have a 4 year 50K service included package on UK car>
Servicing: Four years complimentary servicing or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and includes a maximum of four services. Complimentary servicing covers the manufacturers scheduled servicing only.

It was 4 services. but I got a free one thrown in so its 5 services over 4 years, but I will use them in 3 due to my high mileage.

The FREE SERVICING is not available on hybrids, nor was the 0% finance - what a con.

My Jazz EX 1.4 is on the variable servicing schedule (it was only activated after 1 year because I wasn't told about by the dealer who sold it to me, Thames Ditton Honda!). I took out the Honda Happiness 5 year servicing plan when I bought it and in addition to the 2 annual services to date I've had to take it back for an additional A1 service (within 2 months of the second service). Having complained to Honda Customer Relations I now have it in writing that I can have any number of services as indicated by the SVRS system within the 5 years or 62,500 miles (whichever comes first). Presumeably, this will be the case for all other owners in the same position as me. If you need to query this you should contact Lewis Tingle, Honda (UK) Customer Relations Manager (Cars) on 0845 200 8000.

OK, so I have just got the car back from its first service, at 13,100 miles.

Front brakes 30% worn, rear brakes 10% worn.

First service + reduced emissions service £12.99 + Mini valet £11.95 = £24.95

I know that realistically I have also paid a further £100 towards it too, but as I paid it as part of the finance the £19 a month contribution is hardly noticed.

Happy days  :D :D

I have just had the 37,500 service done, again as part of the service pack, so thats the 3rd service of the 5 purchased.

I had a chat with the Service Manager asking about servicing costs after the plan expires. He says the plans are subsidised by Honda, and aftr the first 5 services, comes the most expensive one, 75k service costs around £475  >:( which is slightly better than the CRV, that service is £650, like thats going to cheer me up !

So after 2 years of ownership (next week) I am fast approaching the dreaded 75k service.  :o :o :o

The expensive one and more importantly the first one that I will have to fund myself, best start a saving fund.

Purchase the essential parts and oil yourself - check with service dept for spec and then hunt down best deals for OE parts. When booking the service ask them to price match another quote.

Just done that  ;)

Local Honda dealer quoted me £662, the dealer that I purchased the car from said £565, a third dealer said £575. So I go back to my local dealer and he says he will price-match, so its £565, saving £107, but I still think its a bit high !

Hm ... I've paid 227,90 EUR for the service at 68k and 395,75 EUR at 85k kms.
Well, I guess it all depends what work is done.

why is the 75k service so expensive?

i suppose it is the spark plugs but they ony cost £10 each it must be the labour for taking the cowl and wiper motor off

do they adjust the valves then too? if they are ok i would leave them alone

i hope they dont break any plastic clips on my cowl doing this job

this is the only thing i hate about the jazz they could have designed it so much better or put decent push and turn lugs on the cowl

I will let you know after Nov 7th, but going from memory its engine oil and filter change, brake fluid change. iridium spark plugs x8, fuel filter, pollen filter, transmission fluid change, and I guess lots of "checks".
