Hard starting when engine is cold
« on: April 25, 2011, 10:08:21 AM »
My Jazz is 2007 model 1.3 manual.
I'm from the Philippines.
Got it new and does not have any problems till now.

I noticed that the rpm in not steady when i start it in the morning.
If i do not press the pedal it will go dead and not start.
But when it is stable and running already i had no problems anymore but when the engine is cold again same starting problem.

I already replace the Battery since it's already 29 mos now and reads 11v.
Change the spark plugs.
Clean the air cleaner but still no luck.

Any advice or info regarding my problem is greatly apreciated.

i think all jazz's behave that in winter when engine is cold even it sound like little knocking. it depends on how cold is air comming in the engine with fuel burning need more hard job.i dont think is the battery.rpm not stable can be leakege in air system.
take it to auto electrical shop and have them check alternater and charging system.

that doesn't sound normal , my Jazz is a 2005 model and have no issues starting up from cold, it idles perfect. It sounds like your EGR valve is playing up. It may need a clean or replaced. Check out the EGR thread, it may help you.
