HERE traffic information

Today the HERE satnav will not display traffic information. The car WiFi is connected to my iPhone hotspot, confirmed by the symbol at the top of the main screen but the traffic information button on the navigation screen does not light up. I’m signed for online services until 2031. Perhaps the system is not functioning today - has anyone else had a problem?

i was wondering about that a few days ago. Meaning about live traffic data. I used to use the TomTom App which gives traffic data.

Just looked into it (asking AI) and it seems not possible to use HERE navigation and Android Auto simultaneously. At least when using it wirelessly. Because it can only use 1 Wifi connection at a time.

It says that when connecting the phone using an USB cable it frees up the Wifi of the phone and you can use Android Auto via the cable and HERE via the Wifi Hotspot. I will try this but looks like using Google Navigation or TomTom is easier. TomTom costs 20€/year.

Are you using Apple Carplay and HERE real time traffic simulaneously?

No, I make no use of Apple CarPlay. The connections menu show that my phone and the car are connected by WiFi. I like the maps on HERE and the junction diagrams that come up in front of the driver.

yes I like that as well. Its the integration with the car itself that is nice. I have not figured it out yet if it is possible to run live traffic information (on the maps itself) yet with Android Auto running simultaneously. I just tried the HERE WeGo App which is free but then of course there is no integration with the car. Also the integrated version looks nicer. We have the Traffic announcement (TA) but that is different from real time traffic info on the navigation map itself.

Still trying to figure out if it is possible to get this live on-map traffic info simultaneously when Android Auto is running. Asking AI is not always helpful and not always right.

I tried this today for the first time and it worked well. When I then disconnected CarPlay and reconnected WiFi to my hotspot, HERE traffic information was back! So it must be something I had inadvertently done wrong. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks!

your old thread is pretty useful. Hard to find info on HERE navigation. I did not manage to sign up yet (Sign Up for Online Service) because I am still messing around with Wi-fi. Will try again tomorrow. Kind off silly it is all so complicated. My Wifi is setup to work with Android Auto. So I guess I need to switch that off and turn of the Wi-fi hotspot on my phone to be able to Sign Up for Online Service. Or something like that. I tried that but not yet successful.

Still, once I turn back on the Wi-fi that works with Android Auto then probably I will not receive the real time traffic updates. But at least I would know how to force it to do so by switching to another Wi-fi

I just tested it and indeed it also works with Android Auto, meaning the turn display in the main screen of the car (next to the infotainment screen). At least in my Jazz MK4 2026 model

In vehicle settings, meter setup, turn by turn display should be ON. But if this is already working in the built-in navigation then it is already on.

I actually like it. I did not succeed yet to connect to real time traffic info on the built in navigation because I did not know the password of my wi-fi hotspot on my phone. It was right on the phone itself    but I need to look these things up on my desktop. Never used it before. So I will try it later but most likely when I use the hotspot I will not be able to use Android Auto. Since Google Maps also uses Android Auto it all works great. Great navigation and internet radio, perfect

when I was using the TomTom app it had speed camera warnings. That was very useful. Not that I speed all the time but sometimes they are placed very sneaky and a warning saved me money. I hear some rumors that Google Maps Navigation does no longer have speed camera warnings? In any case the built in navigation does not have them.

But the car gives its own over speed warnings, so no need to worry about cameras….!

according to google AI the WAZE app is also owned by Google and according to AI: "Yes, Waze fully integrates with Android Auto to push turn-by-turn arrow prompts directly to your 2026 Honda Jazz MK4's digital driver's display (instrument cluster)."

I was asking about this because Google maps navigation only shows 3D. You can display 2D but that is with a fixed north. I like 2D but with a rotating map    So Waze is able to do that. Will test this tomorrow. Waze is free, has speed camera warnings. Will test tomorrow

I have used Waze but I’m not keen on the map design, which had unusual symbols. However, it had live warnings about obstacles, breakdowns, mobile police vehicles etc, with live data submitted by motorists. Certainly worth trying, and there’s a wide range of voices to choose from.

I did not try it yet but it looks very extensive with a lot of options to chose from. Google maps navigation is very basic, not much settings to chose from. I played a little with WAZE and it seems very good. Some things Google AI says about Waze:
