High mileage mk 4 Jazz

Has anyone achieved 100,000 miles or greater with their Mk 4 Jazz/Crosstar?

If so, what has been your experience with regard to the 1.5 litre engine and HV battery performance? Any significant problems? Like many people I have concerns about the use of 0W20 lubricating oil and its effects on engine longevity.

We live in NE England and our 21 plate Crosstar has 34,000 miles on the clock and has been used mostly for short journeys plus occasional trips to Cornwall, Lake District and Scotland. So far the car has been problem free and we are going to keep it for a few more years.

Currently running at 60k with no major issues

My 72' 4 year old Jazz just hit 42,000 miles with the engine/HV battery still sweet as a nut.
Its a 1.5 so should be able to handle most motorways without bother, and it is much less stressed than a typical ICE car because the electric motor is always helping it out.
It was always going to be our 'last' car, which means after the 5th service I will be buying another couple of years of service/warranty plan. I see no reason that the car won't be good for at least 150,000 miles.

As I understand it the electric motor is permanently driving the car and the ICE drives the generator and only directly drives when above =/-70mph

Given the engine isn't running for each mile it should last a long time

Maybe the electric motors will wear out first, bearings ?

Are they brushless

Like many people I have concerns about the use of 0W20 lubricating oil and its effects on engine longevity.
Is 0W20 oil  a concern?  Its low viscosity is specially suited to modern engines with precise engineering tolerances , and circulates more quickly from cold. Its has advanced additives ,some of which help extend its  longevity in service  (should service intervals be extended or neglected)  and made to quality standards which may not have been possible a few years ago.

IMO the main concern is  when 0w20 oil is NOT  used (or an older specification 0w20 missing some additives). The idea that a thicker oil is more 'oily'  or somehow fills increased clearances on high mileage engines  is perhaps outdated.    Something like 80% of engine wear occurs during the first few miles from a cold start.  Cold ,thicker, oil takes longer to reach and lubricate moving parts extending the period of unfavourable high wear conditions.   But other opinions are available. ;D Maybe the thicker oil also takes longer to drain down , leaving parts with a coating of oil. And those who do high mileages tend to do most of their miles with a hot engine.

You can see it on one of the screens when direct drive is happening. It is above 40 mph or 65 kmph, when under light load. You can also hear rpm going down when you accelerate gently when passing 40.

The use of 0W20 oil was always about meeting the demands of new emissions standards rather than maximising mechanical longevity. There are numerous reports that this had led to problems with some modern (mainly turbocharged) petrol engines.

Fortunately the Mk.4 e:HEV Honda Jazz engines are fairly low stressed naturally aspirated engines which should be durable - time will tell. I'm keeping mine and have paid for 3 more years guarantee and service plan.

As Kremen has mentioned, maybe the electric motor... and add to this the generator, may wear out BEFORE the petrol motor thingy?  :o

My 71 plate Jazz is almost at 74,000 miles so nearly at its next service . No noticeable deterioration in engine or drive train performance over that distance. On front suspension i suspect the drop link bars off the antiroll bar will need replacing as on some potholes the bounce seems not as tight - if that make sense ! Our badly surfaced roads eventually degrades the suspension performance!
