  • My Honda: 2008 Jazz 1.4 CVT Elite
Hi everyone,

I own a 2008 Honda Jazz (engine code L13A1) and unfortunately my original half-engine (short block) failed. I've been trying to find a replacement for weeks and I'm struggling, so I really hope someone here with more experience can help me out.

Here is my situation:

- My car: 2008 Honda Jazz, engine code L13A1
- Original half-engine part number (from my Honda service history): 10002-PWA-E05
- I cannot find this exact part number anywhere, neither locally nor through international genuine-parts suppliers.
- The only genuine, brand-new (factory-sealed, still in Honda box) half-engine I've managed to locate is part number 10002-REGT-00.
- The problem: this part is listed under the Honda City catalog, with engine code L13A8, not L13A1 like mine.

What I've found so far while researching this myself:
- On PartSouq, the related cylinder block assembly (11000RECP00) is listed as compatible with BOTH the City/City ZX and the Jazz.
- According to Wikipedia's Honda L-series engine page, L13A1 (Jazz), L13A7 (European Civic) and L13A8 (European City) are all listed as "variations" of the same base engine: 1339cc, 73mm x 80mm bore/stroke, 10.8:1 compression ratio, same power/torque output. The code seems to differ simply because Honda assigns different codes per vehicle nameplate, not because the hardware is different.
- I also noticed that the Honda City's own parts diagram lists two block part numbers for the same position: 11000RECP00 and 11000PWA000 (the same family as my original PWA-E05 half-engine code), which suggests a running parts change/supersession rather than two different engines.

Based on all this, everything points toward L13A1 and L13A8 being mechanically the same engine, just labeled differently depending on which model (Jazz vs City) it was fitted to in Europe. But since this is a full half-engine (crankshaft, pistons, block) and not just a bracket or a small part, I don't want to take any risk without being 100% sure.

Has anyone here actually installed an L13A8 (City) half-engine into an L13A1 (Jazz), or vice versa? Did you run into any issues with:
- Engine mounts / mounting points
- ECU / wiring harness compatibility
- Compression ratio or piston differences
- Any sensors or brackets that didn't line up

Any real-world experience, photos, or even a simple "yes it works" / "no, avoid it" from someone who has actually done this swap would mean a lot to me. I'd rather learn from people who've been through this than find out the hard way.

Thanks a lot in advance to anyone who can share their experience or point me in the right direction.
