I have a 2016 VTi-S automatic Jazz. When moving the key to the start position the starter does not engage sometimes. The battery is new, the earth and battery connections are good. Has anyone had problems with the gear selector in the park position. I have found that moving the gear leave out of park then back into park will allow the car to start. Sometimes it will start by moving the key to the start position a second time or moving the gear lever to nuetral.
Any ideas as to what the issue maybe.

Sounds like the park position switch maybe starting to fail.
Only guessing as not had this happen to me but from what your describing I think that's what it is.
