Jazz MK3 EX (2017) windscreen washers.

The windscreen washers have been abysmal since purchasing last year, just about (but not always) reaching the wipers in their parked position. Honda informed me jets were not adjustable, so I stripped down and cleaned jets. Good pressure, but still only reach below the wipers parked position. Has anyone experienced this problem? Many thanks.

I had this last year, and fixed it by replacing the jets. I think it was caused by using tap water to dilute the screen wash, which eventually resulted in the jets scaling up. You might be able to descale the jets, but they're a bit intricate and you can't easily see if all the gunk has gone.  I had previously had to replace the NR valve on the rear washer for the same reason. Lesson learnt,  de-ionised water from now on.

Hi Colin. Many thanks for your prompt reply. Following thorough cleaning for limescale and build-up of detergent, I can unclip jets from their mounts and spray water 12 feet plus, so I don't think pressure is the problem. However, on re-mounting in the fixed position, the jets still only spray the very bottom of the windscreen.

I have just called another Honda garage who confirmed jets aren't adjustable and would be happy to sell me two new jets at £50.00 + vat! I might just try ebay.

If the jet  pressure and flow seems good but the aim is wrong  would new jets necessarily change the aim angle?    They may be made by the same manufacturer, possibly even on the same machine, and will be clipped into the existing mount.

I've never done the job on a mk3   but is it not possible to  maybe  bend the mounts slightly  , or use some sort of shim or gasket when fitting the jet to slightly alter the angle it seats in the mount?

If there is any chance the jet pressure is not 100% good  you could try the following.  See if you can disconnect the water pipe somewhere between the pump and the jets  and try to blow a mouth full of water  up the pipe towards the jets . Blow as hard as you can but be careful not to do yourself a mischief. . If you get a better flow and aim from the jets than you do from the  pump that may be the source of the problem.   I have done this on a Corsa with success . I was able to diagnose that the filter inside  the washer bottle which  protects the pump was clogged with algae.  Alternatively you might conclude  you should be getting a better spray from your blowing  in which case the jets may be  partially blocked.     If you get no spray at all from blowing  its not conclusive proof of a problem or blockage  , it might just not be humanly possible with a Jazz.  Beware of getting washer fluid in your mouth   . Its tastes horrible
