Car lock sound
« on: April 12, 2026, 06:51:25 PM »
Hi. I am the owner of a 2025 jazz. I would like to connect the the side mirror to the horn so when I lock the car there is an audible confirmation. Is it possible? Alternatively would u have any other suggestions on the subject?

Many thanks.

If you're close enough you can hear the lock, then the second double lock when you press the fob button a second time
Let's be careful out there !

Hi.

It's not possible on our Jazz im afraid.
As said above. best advice is listen for the car to lock.

By the way... Do you think your neighbours will be very happy with some three honks when locking when arriving at home around midnight or unlocking and leaving at some six in the morning?*

*Consider the above not written if you live in the middle of nowhere or on a deserted island.

As you mention a connection to the side mirrors I'm guessing you've got the folding ones.
So, it's an optical telltale: If the mirrors fold / are folded your Jazz is locked!

Not necessarily.  It's an optical tell tale that it has once been locked.  It may not still be locked as the car can be unlocked / opened from the passenger door without unfolding the mirrors.  Bit pedantic, I know.

I normally just check by seeing if  the mirrors have folded. Although its a good idea to disable this function in icy weather.   Plus the distinct locking clunk and 3 flashes of the indicators.        Also  if you have the Honda+ app activated you can check its locked remotely.     Do you really need more?

And pay the subscription for the app (which I don't)!

Thank you for your insight!  (I've actually never tried this, yet it's good to know!)

As I'm usually driving alone, the folding mirrors have so far been good for me.
Plus: I habitually double lock and do the *two-key-dance" to disable the key fob (call me paranoid - I know: absolutely nobody wants to steal a Jazz) :D
However: By your reckoning, disabling the key fob would prevent any (imaginary) passengers from opening up the car from the passenger side, wouldn't it?

sorry about getting quite off-topic with my "pet peeve":
My standard IOT-question is: You - and who else?

I truly admire your trust in technology! - Please, do believe me: Anything directly connected to the Internet can and eventually will be hacked!

So - just talking for myself - I would never ever shell out money for a feature which makes my property more vulnerable! (my Linux distribution gets security updates almost daily - when was your Jazz last updated? - Do you really believe it might be less vulnerable to security issues? - Good Luck!)

Sorry again! As mentioned before: It is my pet peeve!

I dont subscribe to Honda+ either. Just a suggestion.

I agree the Jazz is not at high risk of being stolen, and a thief able to steal it would probably have  a relay theft scanner that would   unlock the car anyway.

If the risk is from someone entering cars  and stealing their  contents   locking the car only offers partial protection. If they can see something in the car worth stealing, eg a handbag , they may just smash the window. You've lost the bag and  got a window to repair.

I'm not saying dont lock your car. It will deter those  thieves who just try doors  until they find one open  but   wouldnt risk drawing attention to themselves  by smashing a window. ( a car alarm activating is still a risk, but often ignored .  :D) . And car boots would also  open. Insurance companies wouldnt be happy.  (or rather, they would be happy because they can refuse to pay your claim)
I wouldnt be happy  accidentally leaving my car unlocked, but not to the extent of taking extra  elaborate precautions.  (even a Honda+ subscription  :D)

I do wonder if dark tinted rear windows affects the risk. Will thieves be more likely to ignore your car if they can see there is nothing inside worth stealing, but break into tinted cars to check?    Maybe insurance premiums  are adjusted for this as well as the extra cost of replacing tinted glass.

To me it is absolutely hilarious that keyless is designed to be so funky, hands free and convenient, but is so easy to crack that the common advice is to fit a dirty great metal bar across the steering wheel like in the 1970s which you then have to lock and unlock and find somewhere to store in the car before you drive off.  So cool ;D
