Parking Brake Release Problem

Ref Crosstar 21 plate:

Anyone have problems with the parking brake not releasing? This occasionally happens to my wife's car and usually requires a switch off and restart to get it working. I have checked that she has her foot on the brake pedal before releasing the parking brake.  Asked the dealer about this but got nothing helpful in reply.
