"WARNING APPROACHING OBJECT" error
« on: March 27, 2026, 11:36:46 AM »
A strange question for you all. Today, out of nowhere we are getting this error as you can see in the attached screenshot. It is only appearing when the car is stationary, but not every time. There is no obstruction in front of the sensor, nor does it appear loose.

Its always displaying full red warning in the same sector.

Before I contact my dealer has anyone got any suggestions

I presume that you've given the sensors a wipe, and checked nothing (wet leaf) stuck over one of them (front left, obviously).

Yup, I wiped all of the front sensors to make sure (I assumed it was just a rogue leaf as well)

Some Civics had similar

Water seemed to be channelled down the bonnet and across the sensor

Does it happen after you brake or slow down when water can run forwards
Let's be careful out there !

Yes, thats exactly how it happened today. I'll see how it behaves on a dry day (whatever one of those is) and report back.

Many thanks

I've had the same thing when travelling at low speeds on the front right sensor, usually in/after heavy rain but then it starts working again when the weather improves

The proximity sensors seem to act overly sensitive during bad weather.
I had to turn off the front sensors while driving in heavy snow once because they got constantly triggered and made the info screens flicker with warnings (it was like driving in a 70ties disco!)

sorry about getting quite off-topic!

I'm getting too old to waste my remaining lifetime with watching (pointless?) videos with unskippable commercials and at the same time losing personal data to Google. Okay, I'm confessing to a major character flaw: I simply hate videos or "video-tutorials"!
I'm currently more in the mood of "if you can't put it down into a few easily to follow steps in writing I'm not willing to follow through (and am not quite certain you actually know what you are doing)."

okay - I was born last millenium, where books where paramount and everything was offline and "solid".

Addendum:

@Jazzik: Actually, it was more "Born to be alive" by Patrick Hernandez - I'm leaving it up to you to find this on your streaming platform of choice - I have it "on premises" on CD and MP3
