Once on the road I press Auto.  I can see that the fan speed varies but there is no indicator light to show that the AC is operating.  Is this correct?
Yes, this is normal "Honda"-behaviour: When on Auto the AC light never comes on even when AC clearly is working.
Auto is just what its name implies: Fully automatic and like the hybrid drive train does its thing entirely on its own.

Went all the way to Cannock to collect my pre registered new Crosstar.
I was asked if i wanted to take a test drive, but declined as the traffic and congestion on the Midlands roads was very intimidating, compared to back home in sleepy N Wales

I therefore sat in the passenger seat and watched the traffic go buy.
Driving the car home was scary, but what a car, one of the best ive ever owned.

What is the capacity of the 12v battery? I had a look at my battery this morning and the battery retaining strap covers the AH numbers.

The current handbook says “Capacity 32AH(5)/40AH(20)” whatever that means.

32Ah: The lower capacity is typically achieved at a faster discharge rate (e.g., C/5 or C/10), meaning the battery can provide 32 amp-hours over a shorter period.
40Ah: The higher capacity is usually achieved at a slower discharge rate (often the 20-hour rate or C/20), meaning it can provide 40 amp-hours if used slowly over a longer period.

The TCU has been activated on my car.  Now it is telling me there is a update available so I have tried to download it but failed.  The car keeps telling me to change network connection, there is a list of connections but none of them work.  I cannot connect to my home router as I live in a second floor flat and I thought I could connect through my iphone but that doesn't work either.  Advice would be welcome.

Have you got your iPhone set to personal hotspot on and then choose it in the car’s connections menu? I think you will need to choose a password.

I've only had my Jazz a couple of week and looking through the associated paperwork I have just realised that I haven't got a service book.  Should I have received one or have service records gone fully digital.

Yes, all digital I think. I didn’t get a service book or a current handbook, but the handbook is easier to use on-line anyway.

2023 advance sport, I got a handbook but no service book told it was done online now, there was once
a fella in dealership who ordered a handbook stood next to me and it cost him £100 he could have downloaded
it on line for free, also I have heard of some people only getting one key, at the moment I'm trying to make my
mind up whether or not to take out extra warranty in October, alright with the service plan till 2028 if a mk 5 came out
in 2027 I could trade it in before I lost more money through depreciation, if I did the extra warranty and service
plan would be a waste of money, I've always been dubious about car service wether its been carried out as it should
be or not from conversations with mechanics some I knew personally.
I forgot what I came to forget.

I've always been given a copy of the standard Honda service sheet (and this year there was also a sheet with the HV battery health check). That boxes get ticked is no guarantee that work has been done but that's the same with a lot of things. I was surprised to see that after one year and less than 5k miles the rear brake pads are reported as 30% worn while the front pads are 10%. Regenerative braking only works through the front wheels and might reduce the wear on the front brakes but I wouldn't be surprised if next year the rear pads are still 30% worn - it's a subjective measurement.

When I first got my jazz and got home I had a good look all around it, I can remember to this
day first thing I thought was [there's not much meat on them pads] in fact they was half the
thickness of the pads I had recently replaced on a vauxhall insignia.
I forgot what I came to forget.

I've heard that, but only when the car has been taken out on finance and the dealer thinks there is a risk it may have to be repossessed

My car is currently at 37k miles, and at 3 years/34k had its first MOT. Brake wear was reported as 30% rear, 20% front. I drive using regen as a substitute for slowing down by changing down (as previous cars), very rarely using the brakes at all, only for that last stop behind vehicles, at lights and parking. I find the Jazz regen a great tool for anticipating driving conditions.
