Tyre speed rating
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:43:01 AM »
I have a 2008 1.4 SE Jazz GD

It has 4 Potenzas.  I need to replace 2 now and 2 in maybe 6 - 12 months.

The tyres are rated 82Vs.  V means a speed rating of 149mph.  This is best described as taking the pi$$.

Richard's sticky above suggests that the recommended rating is 82Hs.

I can save a few ££s (quite a few over the lifetime of the car) by buying 82Hs (a tardy 131 mph).

Is this going to be a problem?  Does it matter whether the two fronts have the new 82Hs and the rears have 82Vs?

I'm sure others will confirm.

Putting 82H on one axle, and 82V on other axle won't be a problem.

Bridgestone don't make 185/55/15 82H Potenzas which is why Honda fit the 82V.

Personally, I'd put the worn tyres on the front axle, but others on this forum will disagree.   There is an old thread on this subject about the pros and cons:
