Driver side mirror does not adjust properly - stutters
« on: December 31, 2025, 12:39:32 PM »
Hi all,
I’m having an annoying issue with my Honda Jazz’s driver side mirror and was hoping if you could please help.

For a few weeks now, the mirror has not been adjusting properly. When I adjust it to the right, it will only go slightly (with the majority view being the side of my car), and it stutters as if it can’t go any further.

Whereas my passenger side mirror can be adjusted all the way to the left before it starts to stutter. The adjustment switch itself works fine, and I can hear the motor on both mirrors

I can press down on the mirror but it’s not able to travel any further even when I try to press down on it.

So, what could be the cause of this? Like I said, i am not able to get a good view of my right side because of the mirror not adjusting as it should.

I will try to send photos shortly.

Thank you

Has the main body of the mirror somehow been knocked backwards?  A little obvious I know, but...

Agh! A bit of Wd 40 and yes it was sort of stuck half way through. That's now sorted thank you. It's because the electric folding function has suddenly stopped on that mirror. Any idea why only one would stop working and how to fix it?

There's a lot of posts about faulty mirrors on several different Jazz models. It's an ongoing problem.

I've a 23Reg Crosstar, the passenger side mirror has already had to be replaced under warranty as it stopped working.

Even if your mirrors are working OK, someone posted a good tip.

As we're moving into the cold weather period ,it's advisable top go into settings and disable the automatic opening and closing of the mirrors when you start or turn off your car's engine. Just use the manual button on the controls on the driver's side arm rest.

Like tonight. I'll leave the mirrors open in case the temperature gets below freezing and tomorrow when I start the car there's no chance of the mechanism getting damaged when the mirrors automatically open, due to the works being frozen.

Basically: Leave the mirrors alone if the weather is frosty. There is a lot of brittle and poor plastic parts inside that easily breaks and it's a hassle to DYI. (I cannot even for the tiny blue reason of life see why people "need" electrical folding mirrors) The original spares cost a kidney and more but there is a solve if you are a little handy.

Indeed! I only fold mirrors in car wash and very narrow parking lots.
