MOT pass Figures
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:03:23 PM »
Evening just had the MOT done and am glad to say the Jazz passed.
The exhaust emissions test for last year to this has changed but i also note the way they have meassured the temperature from:
Engine Temperature measurement by manual observation of coolant pipes to:
Engine Temperature measurement by manual observation of Temperature gauge.

Figures 2010                 Figures 2011
Fast
CO 0.014                      0.054
HC 75ppm                     19ppm
lambda 1.016                 1.004

Natural
CO 0.013                       0.006

Are these good figures for a 2005 1.4dsi?
Are the differences an indication of anything?

What are others figures?

My figures:(52reg, 1.4 i-DSI)

   Figures 2007    Figures 2008    Figures 2009   Figures 2010
Mileage:27709        33943             43728            56585

Fast
CO 0.016               0.021              0.009             0.046
HC 13ppm              78ppm             182ppm          18ppm
lambda 0.998          0.995              1.002             0.999

Natural
CO  0.002              n/a                 0.031             0.049

I double checked my writing, so the 182ppm at 2009 HC is correct (unless mistyped at the MOT centre). All the MOT test been carried out in December each year. From the last year I`m using vPower petrol (to keep clean the engine and reduce the deposits in the exhaust system).

The lambda value shows the air and the fuel mixture, it must be around value 1.000, if it`s not within the limit the air/fuel mixture is bad and can damage the catalysator and more harmfuel gases produced.
If all the other values rising by the time it shows the engine wear or incorrect burn in the engine, it can cause eg. clogged air filter, worn spark plug, valve clearance, etc.
