Software update
« on: July 20, 2025, 06:36:11 PM »
Has any body had this message and a subsequent update installation occurring?

I don’t know what this update was for or how it was input, I accepted the option to install once the engine was off and then it was a success message followed by a check map update prompt (yet to do)

Seems a bit wierd!?

Any feedback back or explanation would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Yes, I think it is probably is the same update issue.

I had previously set up the Jazz to connect to our home WiFi (which is a good connection on our driveway) when we first got the car over 4 years ago now!!

We’ve never used that WiFi connection to achieve anything since but appears that this update has landed via that WiFi connection.

Be interesting to see what the update is actually for as someone is enquiring on the posting you have highlighted.

Thanks

I just tried updating via USB drive, but it said: "Vehicle is updated". Jazz Elegance manufactured in November 2024.

I updated using my home WiFi. All it did was download a user handbook update,  never ever read the on board manual, so a bit of a waste of time.

I have absolutely no clue what my update was for as it didn’t mention anything about it

I just downloaded it and installed it, after 3 attempts. I can’t see what’s been updated as yet

Really annoying that my iPhone lost connectivity after the update so had to reinstall the phone; all working fine again now

Is your Jazz an Advance manufactured in 2023 with Garmin navigation?
Still no update for mine.

If you go into the system updates app and select the settings button, then look at update history it will list the update items relevant to the update completed.

It all seems a bit hit and miss.

My 2023 Crosstar when it's on our drive can't find the router in our house. So I attempted to do an update using a USB. I used the one with all my "car music" on it as there was room. I attempted to download any updates and the site said it could take up to ten minutes. I gave it twenty and it was still uploading! So I called it a day. I also deleted the Honda update connection file.
This was over a week ago.
I was sitting in my car in Sainsbury's car park the other day, with the engine running and the radio on. All of a sudden, a message flashed onto the screen which said it was doing an update. It was over in a few seconds.

Amongst my many music files and playlists, on the USB I have in the car, I noticed this morning there was a file that said "Garmin." Maybe that was used for the update?
In the meantime I'd ordered another Sandisk, they are only seven quid. So tried another upload using this as a dedicated USB.
I did this yesterday and it worked, well, it said the car's software was up to date!

I have just had the update notification, in a way that I haven't seen before. Normally it is the little open map icon that appears on the navigation screen... this time it was on the start up page as a little orange disc with a 1 in it.
Selected it, and it told me it was an audio update. Pressed the button to off as instructed, it told me that would be when the download would start.
An hour later I sat in the car, turned the ignition on and after the screen came on, it told me the update was complete. The screen was black for longer than normal though at first.
All seems fine.
I must point out that I park on my driveway in front of my front room window, and about 10' from my router. It shows a good strength signal on the consul icon.

My problem is that I park my car  in front of our house on our drive which is to the right side. The router is in the opposite corner of the house behind the lounge French window curtains as far away as it can be!

You could try a range extender. Even if it doesnt work well enough to reach the car  it might justify its cost by improving wifi  reception elsewhere in the house.    here is a cheap example from Argos.

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1115138?clickPR=plp:1:6

Also you can download various free apps to your phone that measure the strength of wifi signals.  These are helpful in optimising how you position your router, or an extender  , or the car,  or indeed  you might decide you need a better router.    You might for instance find the car gets a stronger  wifi signal  at the bottom of the drive, or in the road than  it  does closer to the house.

Not a fan of range extenders as they mean a second SSID address and maybe a manual device change is needed

A mesh system, IMO, is far better and what I've got

A mesh is the same SSID and as you move about your device accesses via the strongest signal
Let's be careful out there !

Yeah sorry, my idea is a bit outdated .  I did use a range extender for a while but it was no longerr needed when I got a better router.      Maybe download an app first and measure  your wifi signal strength at various places within and around your house  and experiment to see if these can be improved  just by  repositioning the Router.Even a slight movement in  its orientation, or its aerial(s ) can make a difference.   You may find you dont need to invest  in other solutions.
