Near side driveshaft oil seal.
« on: July 13, 2025, 04:16:50 PM »
Hello all,I wonder if anyone has renewed the near side driveshaft oil seal on their Jazz, can it be done by removing the 2 bolts at the bottom of the leg or does the bottom ball joint have to be split.T.I.A.

Well no replies surprisingly,I am wondering….has anyone had a Mk.2 driveshaft seal go at any time ?

Have no experience of this but a quick search appears to show that the main problem encountered by Jazz owners appears to be that the shaft itself is prone to snapping / shearing! Perhaps someone who has replaced the shaft themselves can give an insight into how the shaft is removed / replaced?

Sorry that I cannot answer your query but maybe we can keep this subject alive for a while in case a member who has experience of this will see it.  :)

If I was doing it I would split the ball joint.  You need a heavy lump hammer to shock it loose.  You might be able to remove it by taking off the track control arm, and unbolting the hub from the strut, if you cant get the ball joint off.
