Jazz Radio
« on: April 02, 2025, 02:17:04 PM »
Just posted this on the MK11 side as I had been told that is what ours is...it's a 2004, so it is a a mk1.
Same problem, radio not working CD is, so I got the component ready to fit...how hard is it to pull the actual radio out? TIA

It takes a while the first time to actually work out how it's held in.

There are various Youtube videos showing you how to do it, and most of it is pretty straightforward.

Couple of tips - you're going to need a small 8mm(I think) socket on, say, a 6" long 1/4" socket set extension bar to get to the two screws that are hidden up under the dash and they have to be "felt for" rather than seen and I would strongly suggest a couple of thin, trim removal plastic pry bars to pry the fascia out of the dash the first time.

On reassembly, a bit of Blue Tack in the socket makes it easier to hold and offer up the hidden screw into it's hole, but the one nearest the driver is so fiddly that I left it out with no issues or rattles.

Also, a thin smear of silicon grease on the various clips that you will find will make it so much easier to get out again if you have to. The plastic is strong and not brittle, but it does tend to "stick to the clips" without a little lubricant.
