Coolant Level Tricky To See
« on: January 27, 2025, 02:37:05 PM »
I’ve just popped the bonnet to check the oil & coolant levels

Oil level was easy to see on the orange part of the dipstick and it was perfect; nice and clean too

The coolant level is very difficult to see as the expansion tank almost disappears out of sight

What I did see was a number of lines embossed into the coolant expansion tank way down on the tank.  Does anyone know if these lines are how you determine the coolant levels?  Mine showed a level close to the upper embossed line. The downloaded owners manual wasn’t much help with checking levels to be honest

One thing that was a nice surprise was how immaculate the under bonnet is; it all looks clean and shiny like brand new still

I also double checked what 12v battery I have and it’s a Panasonic; is this a standard fit on a ‘23 Jazz?

Coolant level

The MY24 online manual has a picture on page 522.

The expansion tank has a marking slightly below the middle. According to the manual this is the "MAX" mark.
On my car the coolant stands about at this mark.

12V battery

The 12V battery in MY24 Advance (built in 2023) is made by Panasonic as well.

My coolant shows at the upper of the marks on the tank which I’m guessing is at the correct level

The Panasonic 12v battery is a good sign I think!   I absolutely love anything Japanese made

Panasonic on my 2024 reg, I am also reassured to know my Jazz was built in Japan, a few of the so-called Japanese brands for the European market are built in Europe, that said a mobile diagnostics guy told my (mechanic)son he owned two Suzuki's because he had never been called out to fix one, I owned a Suzuki Vitara 1.4 mild hybrid, loved it, bullet proof, i'm sure it had a Hyabusa engine under the bonnet  ;)

Panasonic on my 2024 car. I think it may have been a different make on my 2021 car.

Max line (un labelled )  is about half way up the tank.  My level ,cold,  is just below this.  But well above the (labelled )  MIN line, which is only about 25% up from the bottom of the tank.
My IQ test came back negative

I have had cars in the past where fluid levels were difficult to see.  I would take the filler cap off then shine a torch into the opening and the level was easier to see through the plastic container.
