Can anybody, please, help me identify the empty white plastic bottle immediately “behind” the screen washer bottle?  Thanks.

From your description sounds like the brake fluid container

the white bottle you mention is for the engine coolant.
If it is empty (as you describe) you better top it up asap with the correct coolant.

It looks like the radiator expansion tank, there is a rubber pipe that leads to the top of the radiator, if its empty it needs topping up with the correct coolant, looks like the level is about half way up

Thanks to all who have commented.  Problem solved.  You are right, Tombola, it is the expansion “bottle.  The tube from the bottom of the bottle goes to the top of the radiator.
