5 year service plan
« on: October 18, 2024, 12:02:16 PM »
To anyone who took out a 5yr service plan did you get the documents from the dealership at the time of sale or did Honda UK email or send paper documents to you, my Honda dealer says they come from Honda UK but I have not received anything, it's been three weeks since I picked up my car. Thanks.

My previous car was an ex-demo Crosstar and I never had any paperwork re the servicing deal, but they told me it didn't matter as it was all recorded on the Honda computer records in any case, and I never had any issues getting the free service.

As it happens, on my current Honda which is also ex-demo I do have some paperwork but I wouldn't have been worried if there wasn't any, providing you've purchased from a Honda dealership I'm sure they wouldn't have lied about it.

Mine was bought end of July 2020 and the Honda 5 Year Care Package document issed by Honda (UK) is dated 9 December 2020. On paper, a delay of about 5 months on the part of Honda (UK).

That doesn't mean that the 5 year period of cover started on 09 December. It starts from the date of first registration of the car. That gives Honda (UK) some certainty regarding the start date and a link to the car's registration number plate, but from the customer POV the cover will have been back-dated to a date prior to the day of actual handover.

I have no idea when the 5 Year Care Package gets data entered into the Honda computer system accessible to Dealers. Perhaps the Dealer makes that entry when they sell the 5 year Care Package to the buyer/customer. If the dealer does check online, they told me that Honda's computer system shows the 5 Year Care Package and Warranty applicable to that particular Jazz. Otherwise the dealer can try to charge you for a repair that is covered under the Warrranty. Anyhow you are supposed to produce the physical document for the dealer to check.

Ours was given to us on the day we picked our car up, which was 4 months after first ordering it. 72' plate.

Brought my jazz from Honda Morecambe, got paper work for 5 year service plan in post three weeks later,
took paper work to Honda derby all entered into there records told not to bring paper work again,
had first service and was told at third service they would extend my breakdown cover from
three to five years for free because of service plan.
I forgot what I came to forget.

I picked up my brand new Jazz from the dealer in June of this year.  I have yet to receive the paperwork relating to the five year service plan that was part of the deal.

The Manager of the dealership informed me it would come direct from Honda.  I'm still waiting nearly 5 months later.

I chased it with the dealership and they confirmed it was in the Honda pipeline.   After further chasing the dealership must have got fed up with me going on about and did issue me with a letter stating that I had the service plan but still no paperwork from Honda.

I just can't understand why it has taken 5 months (and counting) for Honda to produce some paperwork!

Jazzie, I have it on the sales receipt that a service plan came with the car, I would just like Honda to confirm by issuing my documents, I won't hold my breath

warranties and service plans are administered by "Honda Administration" . Which not actually Honda themselves.  The paperwork for my 2021 car says 'Honda administration means "TWG Services Ltd "......  who  administers the programme on behalf of Honda.' I have not yet received any paperwork for my 2024 car but I expect  it will be the same.

TWG Services are an independent business solutions company , part of an international group who also provide similar services to other car manufacturers etc.  In essence Honda (and other car manufacturers) use such companies as agents as it saves them the cost of hiring their own  staff skilled in dealing with customer complaints ,refusing as many warranty claims as they can  ,referring enquiries to someone else, refusing to pay for servicing  if its out of time or mileage,or contravenes other small print  and in this case not  issuing paperwork until  they get round to it.
To be fair, Insurance companies operate in a similar way  - the more claims they can find a reason to refuse the better their profits.  And just like policy holders can be seduced by a cheaper insurance premium  Honda are slow to realise the savings  TWG make for them on  warranty claims etc  reflects on Hondas  own reputation, not TWG's.

Correct, my Toyota service plan was administered by an independent company but I did get it printed out when I picked the car up
