Marshall Honda Narborough Smelly Window Wash
« on: September 14, 2024, 10:45:08 AM »
They want £150 to just investigate smelly window wash, they want £145 to service air con that does not need doing for another 2 years, they want £400 to install a new wing mirror that's supposed to be done under warranty which they are giving me the run around.

While we were waiting for the service someone was laying into them about their lackluster practices, this place has gone downhill in a big way.

BTW, I stuck my nose into the window washer reservoir and could only smell window wash, we emptied the reservoir and stuck a camera down there, it was clean as a whistle.

I gave Marshall Honda Reading a miss this year simply because of the similar adverse reports I've seen on forums
Let's be careful out there !

They became a big pain just after the brake simulator failures came to light, it's real tough to get them to honour the extended warranty now, they are even hiding the cups to the complementary coffee area.

I'll be going one last time to get the wing mirror fixed under warranty, they even took pictures of the mirror to send off to the warranty people, they will look for excuses to fob me off and when that fails make me wait ages.

I participate on 3 Honda forums

As a result I know that both the Jazz brake simulator and the 10G 1.0 litre wet belt timing chain is a known problem

But, according to posts, Marshall Reading have told owners they've never heard of these before and it will cost. A smaller number have gone to another Honda dealer and had the repairs carried by Honda FOC

Those posts tell me all I need to know about Marshall Honda Reading
Let's be careful out there !

When I  handed the Jazz  over for its last service I said  words to the effect that 'dont bother phoning  me to authorise things like disinfecting the aircon - the answer will  be NO.  (I hope I wasnt too rude  :-[ )

The reply was "Oh no.We dont do that anymore"

So some dealerships at least  have learned that  short term profits from non essential work  - or even the suggestion of additional expensive maintenance -  adversely affects long term brand loyalty, future sales  and  customer goodwill.

The Jeep dealership that once tried  to rip me off  was redeveloped as  a Drive through macdonalds  soon afterwards.  :P ;D

The cell phone coverage at that location is absolutely terrible and it's little more than a shed with big windows, McDonalds won't touch it with a barge-pole.  :P

Oh well. There are plenty of Chinese car brands looking to expand their dealership network.  Maybe these  will see charging £145 for a squirt of  refrigerant or disinfectant  or £150 for some perfumed screenwash as legitimate side hustles.

Try getting spares for the Chinese BYD range

From what I've seen posted it anything needs replacing you're in for a very long wait

Also get insurance quotes before you buy

It's MOT time and again they are moaning about smelly inefficient window washer fluid, exact same wording like they c&p from last years service.

Pipes are good, I put in new nozzles last year because they were jammed, pumps are good and I can't smell  inefficient window washer fluid, what does inefficient window washer fluid even smell like?

Czn you go anywhere else ?

It's the only one within 40 miles, plus I need to renew the warranty at a honda garage, the reason for posting is to see if honda dealers are trying it on with anyone else with these BS charges?

Ana Boulter has done loads of youtube videos about her problems with Marshalls Peterborough. Just one person's experience, but in the comments sections many make similar criticisms.
