New tyres needed?

Any advice from Jazz owners out there? The Brigestones have managed 30k but are ready for changing.

When it comes to changing the tyres I will personally keep to the original tyres from new as long as they are available...........

Honda must have put on those Bridgestones for a reason.

I have had no problem with them in terms of grip, wear & ride quality etc....

I personally avoid budget tyres.

I got 35,000 miles out of the Bridgestones at the front before they got to 3-4mm across the tread. I prefer to change at 3mm as braking distances drop-off after that point. They could have lasted until another couple of months but what with the VAT increase it was worth doing them last month.

I'm using Continental Premium Contact 2.

Honda will have struck a deal with Bridgestone that tyre hasn't been made for a particular model, remember manufacturers are in it to make money otherwise all new cars would have Michelins

Michelin Energy Savers work well on a Jazz, they have low rolling resistance (good for fuel economy) and very supple sidewalls that help with Jazzes (notoriously) firm ride, this also helps them to wear evenly.

They are an excellent tyre with a good compromise between grip and wear (a harder tyre will last longer, a softer tyre will grip better but not cover as many miles before it needs replacing).

I also find road noise is a lot lower than most other brands (I had Pirrelli tyres on my Civic and they were very, very noisy compared to Michelin).

They are also good on snow, and with global warming (aka climate change) being such a problem these days that is a good thing to have :D
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I had Michelin Energy Saver on my Jazz and they are really last longer than any other but the tyre is really hard, the ride is already firm with the early made Jazz`s, so I won`t come back for that once again. Now I`ve Continental EcoContact3 tyres and I feel the grip is better the the Michelin and a bit quieter too.

I think the OE fit Bridgestones are too hard-riding, noisy and poor in the wet. I've put Continental Premium Contact on the rear and noticed it is quieter - the ride is a bit better but difficult to say conclusively without having them on the front as well (still got Bridgestones on the front).

I changed tyres at 4mm as I find the Jazz frightening on the motorway in heavy rain. I've never aquaplaned like I have in the Jazz!

By the way, I have winter tyres on at the moment and the difference is amazing, even on just cold wet roads. The Jazz is a great little car - it's worth getting the right tyres on it to make the most of it.

Regards

Whatever tyre you have decided upon, I found www.mytyres.co.uk to provide consistently the best prices. What's more, my garage (Performance Tyres, Glasgow) were pleased to have the tyres delivered to their premises, fit them and laser align for £40!

All the best with it!

Four nice new Avons fitted for £237, very reasonable for such a good quality brand. Hopefully they will last 29500 miles just like the Bridgestones.

Different options with no out and out most popular tyre selected.............its still pay yer cash and take what comes verdict...........still im not a lover of the Bridgestone, im built for comfort and the best tyre for that over the years has been Dunlop Sport on many different models, but on my Daimler it has to be the Pirelli Asimmetrico for the special supercharged rating........so the search goes on until a front runner is sorted............ :-\

The story I heard was that Honda did a deal with Bridgestone motorcycles. Bridgestone would stop producing motorcycles in return for Honda using Bridgestone tyres.

OE tyres on my EX built in Japan are Dunlop Sport
Rate of wear seems high - doubt if I'll get 25K  out of them :(
Never mind I do gallop along ;D
Enjoy your Jazz :)
