I assume that most Mk4 Jazz members know that the remote controls can be disabled, by pressing both buttons together for 2 secs, until the light flashes twice, making it impossible to open the doors.
Normal action resumes, when either lock or unlock button is pressed separately.
This obviates the need for the use of any Faraday bag, or microwave etc.

Yes, the microwave oven does act as a faraday cage and even the front door will not allow any microwaves in or out ,that's why the door has a metallic patterned glass . this prevents the glass allowing any microwaves in or out.
I've tried my key fob in the oven and it's safe enough there !!
If the car thieves want to steal your car they'll take it away on a low loader , the Jazz does not have the profit appeal of an expensive car ,thank goodness.
Microwaves have been on sale since 1946, I remember that piece of useless information as it's my date of birth !!
All the best from Neale.

Can you take a Jazz without  having the keyfob?

I use the Stoplock, but I also keep the key in two Faraday bags, and they live in the microwave at the back of the house. That should stop any signal escaping to their devices. My 2nd key has the battery removed.

You do not need to do that as pressing both buttons for 3 seconds turns the key transmitter off.

...turns the key transmitter off.

To be precise: the radio wave reception will be turned off.

Yes, well aware... but I still like to put it away in the bag, and in the microwave. It stops burglars finding it easily too. I am sure we all have our own methods, mine suits me fine.

I do that as well - the Smint box is both inconspicuous as well as good protection against inadvertent key presses.

Can thieves take your jazz if you are in the supermarket for example, ie a long way away from the car.

Do you need a steering lock? if your car can't be taken anyway, if you cant start the car without a keyfob.
That's what I'm wanting to know.

Any car with a wheel lock can be stolen. Jack up, trolley underneath wheels, low loader.
Jazz not worth while. Range Rover/BMW/Mercedes worth while/

It's more than 2 seconds in my experience (?5 seconds?). Just hold down both buttons until the little LED on the key flashes.

Check 7min 40sec for the Stoplock, and these are not experts

All steering locks tested failed, but some took longer than others to defeat. They will act as a deterrent for a joy rider, not that I expect a Jazz would be a joy riders first choice.

Best but most expensive option would be a Ghost immobiliser as if they gain entry, the car will not start without the sequence code.

I see no point in getting too paranoid. The Jazz is not even a favourite with thieves.  Despite efforts to make it like Fort Knox  the car parked next to it may still engulf it in flames, or the riverside car park may flood  (happened to me once in the 1970's,)  a tree may fall on it , etc etc.

. I keep the key in a  faraday bag , and have been honest with my insurers that  it is normally on the driveway overnight.(  I  do  have  a  garage, but access is very restricted . )I try  to avoid parking  somewhere that might be more vulnerable to   'traditional' car crime such as criminal damage or breaking in to steal contents.
Then relax and hope for the best.
