Used 1.4 Jazz questions
« on: September 30, 2023, 03:22:30 PM »
I am buying used mk1 Jazz, 1.4, manual.Year 2006,2007,2008.

My question is what are the differences between the Sport model and the normal one? Is the ground clearance on a sport model lower? Which is a better buy?

I will be using it in a city, motorway, some hills driving, rural roads here and there.
Thank you!

Jazz from UK at the age your looking for are prone to rust, worn gearbox bearings and 8 + driver neglect on servicing.
There's a model description on the forum just search for MK1, the sport as such is a bodykit and higher insurance. At NR 20 years old the only item to concentrate on is overall condition. Make sure it's not a write off unrecorded etc. Plenty Early Jazz around but it's a seller's market used prices remain stupidity high in UK.
Best bet ask around for someone locally giving up driving, test drive a couple when you see one you like get it. Always check the MIT history free on government website. Good luck

Sport in the UK has bodykit, front fog lights, different alloy wheel design, electronic climate control, black interior trim and a few minor additions. The exact spec might be different in Slovenia, but judging by your post it appears yours at the very least has the bodykit.

I would say there is less ground clearance on the Sport.

You just need to search for the lowest mileage Jazz in the best condition, forget about model choices. Look for a good service history. You want to buy the classic old ladies car that has been kept in a garage and used once a week.
I bought a car like that, it has no body rust, it drives very well and sails through MOTs.
I bought the car to use as a family courtesy car and local runaround. There are some good cars out there.

Wise choice of car. My advice with that year/budget?  Ignore mileage, history, spec and colour. Just buy the nicest rust free example you can find. Look after it, service on schedule and it should do you for a few years yet.

Low mileage is not necessarily the best option. I would always go for a car that has covered several thousand miles a year and had proper runs, rather than granny doing her 1 mile trips from cold. 99% of engine wear happens at the point of cold start, once warm virtually none.

Need any help, this forum is packed with helpful folk and lots of old threads to search.
