Camera recall
« on: August 12, 2023, 07:25:04 AM »
I booked car in for the camera recall having seen it mentioned in the forum a few times.

Very surprised to be informed it could take up to 6 hours as the bay used for this quite busy.

In the end elapsed time from booking in to car ready was 4 hours.

Just a little puzzled that in this day and age electronic updates take so long, thats just progress I suppose.

My service is due on the 22nd and they said they will do it during the service.

Just to be safe they've asked for me to drop the car off at 08:00
Let's be careful out there !

Mine is being done on the 18th and as it could take a while I'll just leave the car with them.
It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end !

Nor can it be assumed that if you combine it with a service, that will work out. I did so, but there was a 'software glitch' with the car having the camera update done that morning whilst mine was being serviced; that one had to be done again and because it takes so long, mine could not be done on the same day. I had to book mine in again for it to be done separately - three months later!

I'm in no rush and if they need to keep it they can, as long as it's kept safe under cover.

When I had my update (November 2022) my car was serviced and then parked next to 3 other Jazzes receiving their update. They were all four connected to a 12V battery charger and on the local WiFi. One of the mechanics went over every half an hour to check on it.
Both service any update combined took 2.5 or maybe 3 hours.

If I'm understanding this correctly, each car has a fresh download from Honda ?

I'd have expected one master download that the dealer could keep in stock, ready to roll

Which Jazz's does this apply to? If I put my VIN in the Honda site it saya there are no active recalls. I'm in for first service at the end of the month so wondered if it was worth mentioning.

Isn't your Jazz quite new ?

Probably already has it if the Honda VIN check is negative

Our Jazz had its first service at the beginning of September 2022. We were warned in advance that it would take about 3 hours due to the camera update.
After a little over 2.5 hours we were called that the car was ready. Also neatly washed. :D

Oh, yes, thanks for the wash reminder.

I always tell them not to as they never do it to my standard. They leave water streaks all over as they just wipe it over with a wet chammy and let it dry in the sun.

I am with you here. Renault were the same. After every service they get some trainee to wash afterwards... and it is always watermarked and wipe smeared. I stopped them from doing it after about 4 bad experiences.

@ Kremmen and Nicksey:

Come to Poland. Our dealer in Toruń knows how to wash a car...  ;D

Went in Tesco's once and chap in front agreed to have his car washed in car park, when he came out they said is that ok for you.
I just happened to come out at the same time and he said.         " Yes, that's lovely you've done a great job, but that's not my car, mines the one next to it ".  :D
It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end !

My old neighbour had her black BMW washed in Tesco's.

They must have used a damaged squeegee on the paintwork as it was micro scratched all over. She hadn't spotted it but I did.

Why use a rubber/plastic squeegee to remove excess water !!! Surely that's asking for trouble.

I use a soft cloth and wring it out as necessary.
