No more for me
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:24:01 PM »
No more Honda's for me due to a not very good experience which I will summarise.
On 23/02/2006 bought new 56 plate Jazz Sport CVT.Fully serviced by dealer, used daily by the ball and chain.Very pleased with vehicle so when the "scrappage" was coming to its end I traded in the trusty old Civic and bought myself a 10 plate Jazz EX-T.
October 8th 2010, 8 months out of warranty with 52K notched up I noticed a whirring/rattling noise from the 56 plate car when in Drive or Reverse,Neutral/Park both OK.Took to my usual franchise who changed the transmission fluid and said "No idea what the noise is----CVT's do not go wrong". Checked with other franchises in case of BS but all said CVT's do not go wrong. Found out that a replacement box from Honda was £5840 plus vat plus fitting :o   Sourced a very low mileage box from a dismantler for £430 delivered so contacted Honda UK to see if they could reimburse me in any way if I changed the box and got it to my local dealer for Technical inspection as I was being told they do not go wrong.Reply from Honda UKwas £zero, they did not give a t*ss. So much for being a valued customer, once they had got my £30K, adios. Fortunately I paid £500 up front for my !0 plate car servicing so I can assure Honda that I will be returning this car for the slightest problem to ensure that it costs them at least £430 and any servicing or repairs on the 56 plate will definitely be done by them. Afraid it will be VW for me now on. Sorry for the longevity but I wanted you all to be aware of the problem. Rant over :-X

Salient point is that Honda are said to give a 7 year warranty cover for the CVT, and its integral clutch.

Hi Nortones2, I had the fluid changed which cured the slight judder but not the "noise". I was informed by the dealer that the extended warranty(HUK000000001117) was applicable  to clutch judder only, and as they had carried out the procedure to correct this fault they could do no more and aimed me at Honda UK.

I know this now a bit old but am sorry to hear experiance with honda. To say they do not go wrong is wrong in its self. For 1 there is the judder/starter clutch pack which I have done so many could change this with my eyes shut. Also have had to replace 2 gearboxes as they had gone wrong. So for people to say they do not go wrong can only mean they have not had one go wrong on them.
