Honda Jazz 2009 - 2012 models - much difference?
« on: April 03, 2023, 05:04:50 PM »
Hi there, I hope you can help. New member here - had a CRV for a few years but looking at an older Jazz.

I have found a 2009 with 65K on the clock which is quite tidy, but felt just a bit "old". Would I see much difference by paying a bit more to go to a 2011 / 2012 car quite possibly with a lot more miles.

Looking to use it to help my son to learn to drive / first car for him. Some use by me but probably covering low miles.

Any thoughts gratefully received. Thank you.

The 2012 on models had a face lift with improved fuel consumption and better suspension settings.  And the derided dismal I shift was dropped in 2011 and replaced with an improved CVT

Do NOT buy an IShift.. (remove the "H" to see what it was like,)

Thank you for your help.

In the end, I pushed the boat out a bit and I'm the proud owner of a 2014 Jazz Si. A few more miles on the clock - 85K!

Enjoying it so far!

Been trying to sort out a few things, like searching for "Jazz Mats" without falling to autocorrect.

Questions for now:
Currently has four tyres with good tread, but all no-names. It's a second car, not wanting to spend too much at the moment so unsure whether to replace the tyres.

No interior tailgate handle - gone! Any ideas where and how much I should be paying to replace?

Standard question re: spare wheel. I've been reading the posts with interest. Found a good video on YouTube where someone cut down the standard foam insert after fitting a spare wheel.

Thanks again!

Re tyres, I would take my time and find a good brand set of all season tyres. They can be hard to find in the right size but you’re not in a rush.

You say the tyres are 'no name'   but sometimes its a case of 'not so  well known or  widely advertised'   .   Most of the historically  well known  'premium brand' tyre manufacturers also own a few lesser known brands and make them in the same factory, along  side their premium brand tyres.   The  extra cost of  their best known brand partly goes on extra advertising, motorsport sponsorship, and simply because buyers will pay more for the history and hype. .   They get to sell some  at premium prices and also a share of the more budget conscious market. Win Win.
Here is an example.  Tigar Brand tyres made in Serbia. Tempted?  . But Tigar (not tiger)  brand  is 100% owned by Michelin  and both brands (and some others) are made in the same factory. I have driven past it. Looks very  modern and state of the art.   Not saying I would buy Tigar tyres,  but would Michelin deliberately make  really rubbish tyres ?
Also sometimes a high quality  tyre that has a very good reputation in Asia for instance is relatively unknown to the general public in Europe, or the uk in particular.   Sometimes these are sold at a budget price  to promote their recognition and reputation in new markets.  I can remember when some top Asian Brands such as Yokohama  ,Bridgestone etc were virtually unknown here.

There are some crap budget tyres of course.  But it might be worth giving yours  a chance, and researching them on line.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
