The most versatile car for the money
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:56:34 AM »
Having done over 7,000 miles in our GE Jazz... town, country, long motorway trips over all sorts of road conditions... much of which were FULLY loaded with luggage and 4 adults... as a long-time car enthusiast (age mid-50's) I'd like to record that I regard the GE Jazz as an incredibly versatile car.

It's amazing how so much can conveniently fit into its compact dimensions while its comfort (front and rear) and overall 'driveability' are better than adequate. We considered, 'evaluated' and test drove Skoda Fabia estate, Kia C'eed, Hyundai i30, Nissan Note... not to forget Ford's 'new' Fiesta... before settling on 1.2 Jazz... and while recognising that all cars have compromises of one sort or another, I am simply blown away by the all-round versatility of this little Honda.

Despite downsizing from a large, 3-litres car renowned for its long-distance comfort, since buying the little Honda 3x700 mile (return) motorway trips and extensive country touring loaded up with luggage and passengers have persuaded me that the GE Jazz can be far more than an 'around town' or short distance car. Not to forget its sublimely silky manual gearchange and sweet, willing engine... it's unbelievably versatile - IMO, for the money *** simply The Most Versatile Car you can buy***.

Yes. For all round versatility there is very little to compare it against.

The load carrying capabilities of my GD amaze me for a small car. I recently had to move a double bed (it did split into 2). It went in my Jazz but not my fathers Octavia estate!

The Jazz is the most versatile car I have ever had, the seats are the easiest to fold flat and the space is really impressive and the car is easy to drive. The cars I have had over the years include Vauxhall Cavalier Estate, Alfa Romeo 156 Sport Wagon and a range of European Focus and Vectra sized hatchbacks, the Jazz has more space for people and luggage. The performance may not match a 2 litre hatch but is exceptional for a 1339 cc car with excellent economy. The VTEC engine flexibility is a match for any engine and overall the Jazz is probably the best car I have driven and owned.

My mate who has a 1.4 GE and is very, very happy with it amazed everyone by picking up a full sized house door from B&Q in his Jazz.

We have recently been on holiday in a 1.4 GD Jazz and got 2 full size golf bags + fold-up trolleys + suitcases and other stuff in the boot (with the cover on) with only one small bag under the back seats. Covered 1400 miles in 2 weeks, mixed motorway and local (hilly) roads, averaged over 50mpg.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Yes, all so very true, Honda have a another winner on their hands.........................so long as you are happy with a manual gearbox.

The person/persons responsible for deciding to put the awful i-shift in the Jazz should be sacked at the very least.

Equiped with a more suitable automatic gearbox the Jazz GE would be a UK top 10 motor!
