Linking two phones simultaneously / USB/12v sockets power
« on: December 26, 2022, 03:52:56 PM »
Hi,

I am awaiting delivery of my Honda Jazz (SR), but was wondering if anyone could please advise me on two areas?

Is it possible to have two mobile phones linked simultaneously to the Honda Connect system - i.e. one Android phone streaming music, while an iPhone shows navigation?

Also, when the vehicle is switched off, do the USB ports or the 12v socket remain powered?

Many thanks.

There is only one car play (data) usb, so the same phone has to stream music and navigation, the other usb is charge only. The 12v/usb are active in accessory mode only but will deplete the 12V battery sooner or later depending on drain.

Same with Android, only 1 phone can connect.

You can pair phones, then you have to tell the headunit which is the first priority phone in case you both are in the car when you power up.
Let's be careful out there !

When I pumped up my tyres yesterday I found that my pump would not work until I put the engine on. Accessory did not work.

Many thanks for all your replies.

It's a shame about the phones as I was hoping the system would cope with one wired and one wireless device. I will have to sort out an alternative process it seems.

It seems I will have to have a play with the 12v/USB ports when I get the car. I am looking to use them for a dashcam and would have preferred them to power down, but I could always hard wire the camera if needed.

My mini pump works in Accessory... and according to the manual page 231 yours should too:

"The accessory power sockets can be used when the power mode must be in
ACCESSORY or ON."

I would recommend hardwiring.

It's tricky but using the 'Option Connector' is the official way and provides ignition controlled smooth power all the time. It's the fusebox socket the Honda Drive Recorder uses.

Getting the option connector is not easy and searching Amazon.JP using 'GR3' and 'dashcam' as search terms can often return results.

Here is my install :

... Is the music you want to play on the phone itself?

....... because, if so, connect the phone wirelessly and use a USB stick for the music :)

As I do

Ok, thank you. Would you be able to Bluetooth music from one phone whilst having the other using Android Auto/Apple Carplay? Or is it a case of using a the phone as a 'USB stick' and using the other phone wirelessly?

The content is saved on the phone, but is a mixture of music and podcasts that update/download regularly.

I would recommend hardwiring...
Thank you for the link. Funnily enough it is the same camera I will be installing, so this seems like the way forward.

Yes, I thought it should work. I will have to try it again.

This looks very similar to mine, use IGN2 wire for a dashcam so it doesn't power up in accessory mode:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Optional-Coupler-Harness-Gibishi-Terminal/dp/B08MX2N75D/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2EQ8V4CC13AYB&keywords=%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%83%AC%E3%82%B3+gr3%E3%82%B3%E3%83%8D%E3%82%AF%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC&qid=1672151098&sprefix=dashcam+gr3+connector%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-3

Also, my hardwire post is more complicated as I hardwired in my Garmin DS61, that was before I experimented with Android Auto Google Maps and I wanted traffic.

Many thanks for the link!

I never got around to hard wiring the A118 in my current car, but will have a go this time around.  :)
