Succumbed to a dealer visit for RDMS software update today and the fixed the rear screen wash by dislodging a stuck ball bearing in the pipe behind the rear spoiler (part of non-return valve set up?).

This is the second time it’s happened, I just hope it’s not recurrent and occurs again outside the warranty period.

Has anybody else had the same issue please?

That is the non-return valve. Perhaps you have some bio matter in the washer bottle.

I believe even a tiny amount of contaminant (which could have been ice) can be enough to help seed a blockage. A bit like how a crystal can form.       Meteorologists  sometimes  prevent  hail forming, and help moisture turn into heavy rain drops, by seeding the atmosphere with aluminium  dust.

You  might be able to clear a blockage  by reverse flushing, maybe by disconnecting a pipe  and alternately sucking and blowing air and fresh water.  ., Try not to get any fluid  in your mouth. It tastes horrible  :P (I should image  :-[)

It probably contains Bitrex™ to deter people from drinking the poisonous chemicals that prevent it from freezing (which probably include methanol and ethanol).

Thanks for the input, the dealer has fixed it but it required removing the black rear spoiler to access a stuck ball bearing inside the non return valve.

My main concern is that if it happens again it’s going to be a real pain to resolve and possibly costly once the car is out of its warranty.

Now does anybody know how to remove the rear spoiler!!???

Sounds like we need to be very careful about the quality of fluid and water used for dilution. Especially in areas with hard water.
