It's the cars connection with Honda. It allows software updates to come in OTA, over the air.

I didn't get my telematics activated as I'm not bothered about the App. I had the previous version on a Civic and never used it after the first couple of looks.

I'm also a bit paranoid about software coming in too early.
Let's be careful out there !

All working fine for me.

Where abouts are you in the process?
Just setting up? Or you have had it working and have been logged out?

The car let me pair my phone with no problems so why do they make this app so difficult to set up.??

I wasn't able to get a pin sent to my car for ages - it would recognise my VIN in the app but wouldn't let me proceed further.  In the end I logged a support ticket with Honda.  Their (much delayed) response suggested that they had tweaked something in the background but I'm not so sure.  However, they did send updated pairing instructions which when followed to the letter did allow me to eventually pair.  Here's the instructions they sent:

Below are the conditions that have to be met so that you can pair with you Honda vehicle:

1.    Please make sure that the vehicle is located in an area with a good and stable network signal.

2.     Make sure the location and data sharing is turned on from the infotainment system inside the vehicle.

3.     Make sure that the vehicle is not using Wi-Fi but the 4G from the unit.

4.    Before attempting to pair, kindly put the car in "Ignition ON" position.

5.    The car needs to remain in "Ignition ON" position until the pairing process is completed.

6.    Please note that the front driver seatbelt needs to be fastened throughout the entire time.

7.    Assure that the region of the account you are trying to pair matches the region the vehicle is registered in.

8.    Please enter the VIN in capital letters only. Lower case letters will fail to generate a PIN.

9.    Please make sure that the date/time synchronisation setting is set to automatic from inside the vehicle's infotainment system.

10.    The PIN may be sent to your inbox. Be sure to check there for any messages.

11.    Each PIN request made through the app is going generate a PIN code, even if it is not received on the digital audio display and each PIN is valid for 10 minutes and automatically becomes invalidated if not entered within this timeframe, therefore avoid making multiple requests one after the other within a short period of time, as that would cause all of them to contradict each other and become mutually invalidated. Instead, wait for 10 minutes to pass before making a new attempt.

The instruction PDF says, "Once you have accepted the terms and conditions your dealer will activate the e-sim"

Is this a remote process or a dealer visit ?

Activating the e-sim is a dealer operation.

An indication that the e-sim is active is the TCU icon (Car with radio wave) on the top status bar of the audio screen is white and not grey.

Updated mine quite easily as changed car last weekend. Added new car to the garage section. Entered vin etc with engine on (but seat belt not fastened) got message to say leave on for approximately 20 mins. Then received verification message. All connected. Then deleted old car from garage. It did however take a few hours before the journeys to show up on app
