Speed cameras for original navigator
« on: September 18, 2022, 12:50:52 PM »
Hello,
does anyone know if there are programs to insert photored speed cameras etc. in the car's original satellite navigator.
I would then look for speed cameras for Italy.
Thanks for the info.

It used to be possible for the 9G Civic and other similar dated Hondas by inserting a CSV file into the POI folder on the USB stick prior to updating the map but Honda stopped this hack for the 10G Civic and I would guess the later Garmin headunits as well.

I would never have done it because it meant performing a full map install every time the database changed which was often weekly.

Let's be careful out there !

That would explain why the cameras came up ok on my 9G Civic, but putting the files in the E and the Jazz nothing has happened so far. I suspected as much because the Cyclops file is GPI to go in the POA folder, but the update had CHK and NFS files in the POA folder, so the camera database needs to change to this new format :(

That could very well be it.

I have the Speedtrap Alert app on my phone that uses the PGPSW database.

STA links to the headunit, so it mutes the audio slightly, issues the alert, then restores the audio level. It also issues proper voice alerts for the type of camera and speed, unlike the useless Cyclops 'bong'.
Let's be careful out there !
