I agree the plastic is not fit for purpose

Sorry, should have posted this some time ago - obviously too excited at the time, and overcome by the change of stance at Honda UK following pressure from, in particular, RuthieB!
It is possible, with determination and some reinforcement from information gleaned from these chats, to persuade Honda UK to replace the seat covers free of charge.
Like 'RuthieB' mine were replaced in March at the time of my 5th annual service (about 46,000 miles), after various contacts with Honda UK Customer Service.
Thanks to ClubJazz contributors for support and suggestions.
Good luck to those still waiting!

Looks like Honda are misleading potential customers again, if you check the on line configurator for new super N it apparently has part LEATHER seats!
Forgive me for thinking that history is repeating itself!

Forgive me as well (for being completeley off-topic again):
My impression about your statetment that "history is repeating itself" only (and quite clearly!) shows, that we are still unable/unwilling/"unworthy" of finally learning from it!

I have had a response from Honda UK (EU-HME-UK Head Office) regarding the misleading “Leather” description issue on their website and configurator viz: -

“ Thank you for contacting Honda (UK) regarding our Super N and for your patience whilst we investigated your enquiry regarding the upholstery specification of the Honda Super-N.

Following discussions with the relevant department, we can now confirm that the "Combi Leather Upholstery" referenced on the website is comprised of a combination of synthetic leather on the headrests and side bolsters, together with fabric on the seat and backrest sections. The only genuine leather used within the vehicle interior is on the steering wheel.

Having reviewed the matter internally, we agree that the terminology previously used on the configurator needs to be clearer. As a result, we have instructed our website team to amend the description so that it more accurately reflects the materials used, and it will be updated to fabric and synthetic leather.

We would like to sincerely thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Customer feedback plays an important role in helping us maintain the high standards of transparency, accuracy, and integrity that Honda strives to uphold. Your comments have enabled us to review the wording used and implement an improvement that will provide greater clarity for both existing and prospective customers.

At Honda, we are committed to ensuring that customers can make informed decisions based on accurate product information, and we appreciate the time you have taken to share your observations with us.

Should you need assistance on any other matters, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will be happy to assist you where possible.”

I have checked the website configurator and it has been done!

See attached screenshot

It appears that lessons may have been learnt even if a prompt with a cattle prod (aka threat of Advertising Standards Agency) has had to achieve it!

As posted previously, synthetic leather is absolutely fine ...... if it was up to the job, but the sides of seats splitting shows it isn't. This area should have been changed to fabric as soon as the problem was highlighted

I'm still at a loss as to why this is happening. My old 1968 Mini had full synthetic leather seats and they never split, as did various other cars

The only thing I can guess is that horizontal hard plastic piece is restricting movement and causing the synthetic leather to bend more than intended

Why we have to deal with Honda in mainland Europe when they have a very large Honda UK office complex in Bracknell beats me. To be able to communicate with someone in the UK would surely be better

I have no technical knowledge but can imagine the potential difficulty finding the ideal synthetic leather, that will perform well in all temperatures, from +50c  (or more) to minus 50c.  Something real leather does much  better.  ;D

Thin, more pliable, synthetic may perform better than thick 'tough' synthetic leather  where maybe the extra thickness of the pvc layer  makes it more susceptible to stress cracking.

I agree this is made worse on the Jazz because of the way the material is stretched  under tension behind sharp edged hard plastic side panels.

So I do not fully condemn Honda  when the passage of time in real world usage, reveals a weakness that was not picked up during mechanical tests in a laboratory.

Honda's  fault lies in their attitude to resolving the issue. They should, without question, rectify it under warranty, or as cars go out of warranty, and fair wear and tear might become a reasonable explanation  ,  Honda should make available, at a reduced price ,or even free , a repair panel  solution designed for easy DIY fitting.

Few cars these days use real leather.  Its unacceptable to many buyers  , not only vegans, or those who will object to the use a particular species of animal for religious reasons.

Also unacceptable is Hondas apparent continued use of the word 'leather' in advertising to describe the material. Maybe the reason is  when information is translated from japanese  original into various local languages  insufficient care is taken to ensure it completely accurate.
My IQ test came back negative
